This large practice is located in the heart of Lancashire, is looking for a confident and forward-thinking Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established and friendly six-vet team. This full-time, permanent position offers a dynamic and fulfilling opportunity to take on a key role within a busy, community-focused clinic.
They are seeking candidates with at least three years of experience in UK small animal practice who are comfortable with both consulting and surgical responsibilities, and who are ready to contribute to the growth and evolution of the practice.
They are situated in a lively suburban area with excellent transport links to Manchester, Liverpool, the Lake District, and surrounding countryside. It’s a fantastic location for vets seeking balance between professional challenge and personal lifestyle.
You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team, including a three-times surgery certificate holder, who actively supports the development of junior colleagues. An exceptional nursing and client care teams, along with a dedicated Practice Manager, who help ensure the smooth running of the clinic. They also maintain strong clinical links with the nearby 24-hour hospital, allowing for seamless patient transfers and shared expertise for complex cases.
The clinic is well-equipped with advanced tools including laparoscopy, endoscopy, TTA kit, patella luxation equipment, high-quality ultrasound, digital and dental x-ray, capnography, and ventilators. While the building itself has a traditional and rustic charm, we view this as an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to influence and lead improvements, helping to modernise the space and leave a lasting mark on the practice.
This role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys mentoring and developing newer graduates in a welcoming, open, and forward-thinking environment. The position is based on a four-day working week with no out-of-hours commitments and includes a shared weekend rota (either one in three Saturdays or one in six full weekends). But they can discuss flexible working to help support a healthy work-life balance.
In your role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care during consultations, procedures, and surgeries, while ensuring exceptional client service. You will be accountable for patient care, including admissions, discharges, monitoring, and prescribing. You’ll also be expected to ensure compliance with all regulatory and health and safety standards, prepare accurate estimates, and help manage clinical capacity effectively.
You’ll contribute to practice success by engaging with the team through regular meetings, supporting and mentoring colleagues, and promoting best clinical practice, Leadership and coaching skills are important, as is the ability to support nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures to help enhance performance and workflow.
