This practice close to Hayes presents an excellent opportunity for a confident Veterinary Surgeon seeking to take ownership of an established client base while benefiting from the part-time support of a long-standing senior colleague.
This first-opinion GP role is offered on a part-time basis across three days per week — Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday — providing a consistent long weekend. The rota includes one in four branch Saturdays and one in eight hospital Sundays, along with one bank holiday per year at The 24hr Veterinary Hospital. There are no on-call requirements.
The successful candidate would be supported by a highly experienced part-time senior vet who has worked at Hayes for many years, alongside an experienced RVN and trainee nurses. Additional clinical guidance is available from the regional manager and regional head vet. The practice is well equipped for general first-opinion work and is particularly suited to a vet with a surgical interest, reflecting the orthopaedic background of the previous postholder. Facilities include dental radiography, offering strong support for those with an interest in dentistry.
Key responsibilities include carrying out consultations with thorough clinical examinations, forming evidence-based treatment plans in line with practice protocols, and performing surgery within personal competence and the limits of overnight care provision. The role also involves prescribing and dispensing medication in accordance with current legislation and RCVS guidance, maintaining comprehensive and accurate clinical records, referring cases appropriately and contributing to a respectful, collaborative team culture.
Out-of-hours care and complex case support are provided by the Hospital, which offers advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities, including a CT scanner, dedicated imaging support, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons performing advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures.
Located in the heart of Hayes, the practice benefits from a friendly community setting with ample green space and excellent transport links, including Hayes & Harlington station on the Elizabeth Line. On-site parking is also available, which is a notable advantage in the London area.
The salary band for this three-day-per-week role, inclusive of the weekend rotation, ranges from £45,000 to £65,000 full-time equivalent (based on a 40-hour week), depending on experience and allowing scope for progression. Benefits include 6.6 weeks’ annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata), generous relocation assistance where applicable, up to £2,000 CPD budget per year plus up to five days’ paid CPD leave (pro rata), and private medical healthcare insurance with Bupa.
