This wonderful practice in County Durham is a welcoming, close-knit practice made up of a passionate and supportive team, including a dedicated Partner, Practice Manager, experienced Veterinary Surgeons, and a committed Nursing and Reception team.
Ideally located near the town centre, The practice is fully equipped and designed with both patients and staff in mind. They offer dedicated wards, a large waiting area, a spacious prep room, and a separate imaging suite. For feline patients, they have created a dedicated cat-only entrance, waiting room, and hospital ward as they work towards becoming an ISFM-accredited Cat Friendly Clinic. The modern clinical tools include digital and dental x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, a physiotherapy laser, and in-house haematology and biochemistry analysers.
They are currently recruiting for a Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time basis, working 40 hours across four days per week, with a 1 in 5 Saturday rota (8:30 am – 12:00 pm). However, they are very open to discussing part-time hours and are happy to be flexible to work around what’s best for you

In this role, you will deliver outstanding clinical care to your patients during consultations, treatments, and procedures, while ensuring a high standard of communication with clients through clear updates and compassionate service. You will uphold the highest standards of practice compliance and regulatory care, develop tailored treatment plans with transparent estimates, and lead your team by mentoring and sharing best practices. Handover of cases and arranging transfer for enhanced care will also form part of your responsibilities, as will supporting the clinical development of your colleagues and driving forward a culture of professional excellence.
To succeed in this role, you must be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with a strong focus on delivering exceptional care. You should be confident working collaboratively within a team, have proven experience in clinical leadership, and a passion for developing others. Experience in encouraging nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures is important, as is a proactive approach to coaching and influencing those around you.
