Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon –Doncaster
My client in Doncaster is seeking an experienced and motivated Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a close-knit and highly skilled team. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy real work–life balance, with a four-day working week, no out-of-hours or bank holiday commitments, and only one in eight Saturday mornings, with time off in lieu. They’re also very happy to consider part-time applicants.
You’ll be joining a team of eight vets who pride themselves on collaboration, clinical excellence, and a friendly, supportive culture. Between them, they hold certificates in medicine, surgery, and diagnostic imaging — so whether you’re seeking guidance, inspiration, or a second opinion, there’s always someone to turn to. They are looking for a vet who has completed their VetGDP, is confident with routine surgeries, and wants to continue developing in an environment where learning and teamwork go hand in hand.
The practice operates across two sites: a fully equipped hospital and a recently refurbished branch. All out-of-hours, weekend, and bank holiday cover is handled by VetsNow, who work directly from our hospital, ensuring our inpatients receive continuous, high-quality care without the need for transfers.
They understand that every vet has their own passions and strengths, so this role can be shaped around your interests. If surgery is your focus, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills in advanced procedures such as cruciate and patella repairs, laparoscopic surgery, and BOAS cases. If medicine is where your passion lies, you’ll be delighted with our comprehensive diagnostic equipment, including Imagyst, ultrasound, dental radiography, endoscopy, and i-STAT. Most cases can be worked up fully in-house, with hospital shifts combining inpatient care, emergency cases, consultations, and surgery. For those who enjoy a mix of everything, a flexible rota allows you to keep your work varied and engaging.
They offer a salary of up to £60,000, depending on experience, and are happy to discuss higher packages for certificate holders or vets with advanced skills. You’re also welcome to bring your well-behaved pet along to work — they know how much they’re part of the family.
In return for your dedication, they provide a generous benefits package that includes paid RCVS, VDS, and one other membership; fully funded CPD with support for certificates; and five weeks of annual leave, with the option to buy or sell days. They also offer enhanced pay for maternity, paternity, adoption, surrogacy, parental leave and sickness, a Healthshield cash plan, and a cycle-to-work scheme.
This practice are proud to offer a working environment where you can thrive both personally and professionally. If you’re looking for a role that combines clinical variety, genuine support, and a balanced lifestyle, they’d love to hear from you.
