Head Registered Veterinary Nurse
I am helping my client based in Stockport to find a passionate and experienced Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their friendly and dedicated team
This newly refurbished clinic has a bright, warm and welcoming atmosphere, with an abundance of natural light — a rare find in the veterinary world and well worth a visit. They have a lovely big theatre, prep room, separate dog and cat wards, Dental Suite including dental Xray and all the other equipment you would expect to deliver outstanding care.
As Head Veterinary Nurse, you will play a key role in providing excellent nursing care, supporting our veterinary surgeons during procedures. You will lead by example, helping to create a positive, collaborative environment that encourages clinical excellence and teamwork.
The team has 6 vets and a number of RVNs some newly qualified and one student RVN. You would be responsible for the clinical development of this team and ideally will already be a clinical coach, you would also oversee the reception team who deal with many of the less clinical parts of the role including stock rotation and ordering.
This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (with a 30-minute lunch break), and includes one weekend in six at the hospital close by
As a benefit you’ll have access to a health cash plan covering dental, physio and optical services, as well as a 24/7 private GP service. They also provide life assurance at three times your salary, access to confidential counselling and wellbeing support, and generous annual leave of five weeks plus bank holidays — rising to six weeks with length of service
Your professional development will be fully supported through a CPD allowance of £750 plus two paid days each year, access to internal CPD and clinical communities, and opportunities to pursue funded certificates. They also cover your VDS and RCVS fees, and offer a range of additional benefits
To thrive in this role, you will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse with experience in delivering exceptional patient and client care. You’ll be confident in supporting surgeries and nurse-led appointments, managing admissions and discharges, dispensing medications, and maintaining the highest clinical and operational standards. Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to coach and motivate others to achieve their best.
