My Client in Devon are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly, forward-thinking small animal team, offering the perfect balance of high-quality clinical care and an exceptional lifestyle on the stunning coastlines and countryside of Devon and Cornwall. The team currently comprises fourteen vets (nine full-time equivalent) working across four well-equipped sites. Facilities include prep rooms, operating theatres, dental suites, kennels and cattery, X-ray, ultrasound, full laboratory services, endoscopy, and laparoscopic spay equipment, with a CT scanner installation underway. The practice is on the verge of achieving RCVS Hospital Status following a recent Practice Standards inspection. The clinical team includes advanced practitioners and certificate holders across pain management, anaesthesia, medicine, exotics, ophthalmology, and behaviour, with certificates in cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, and surgery currently in progress. Additional services include a peripatetic surgeon, acupuncture, and a highly experienced nursing team with further qualifications in behaviour, anaesthesia, and more.
They also takes pride in its teaching role, providing small animal rotations for Bristol University veterinary students and achieving top rankings for teaching experience. The practice is looking for veterinarians who are committed, motivated, and collaborative, with a strong focus on client care and communication, and who value being part of a positive and supportive team environment. Out-of-hours work is shared equally across the team, currently comprising one weekend in eight with the following Monday off, one Saturday in eight (centralised at the hospital branch to reduce weekend pressures), and a maximum of four on-call nights every four weeks. Full veterinary and RVN support is available for inpatient care.
The role offers a competitive salary of up to £60,000, dependent on experience, alongside a four-day working week, with flexible arrangements for candidates seeking three-day weeks. Benefits include 6.6 weeks of holiday including bank holidays, paid RCVS, VDS, and BVA membership plus one additional membership, five days of CPD with a £1,750 budget, regular performance and career development reviews, support for certificate progression, health insurance, enhanced parental leave, and company sick pay.
