Veterinary Surgeon – South Manchester
4-Day Week | No On-Call | Tier 3 Hospital & In-House Referrals | Up to 6.6 Weeks Holiday
Are you an experienced veterinary surgeon seeking a supportive and progressive practice where you can grow and thrive? A well-established, multi-site veterinary group in South Manchester is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their first-opinion team. This is a varied and rewarding role offering a balanced four-day week, with some late evenings (5pm–11pm) and weekend shifts on a fair rota. There is no on-call, and time off in lieu (TOIL) is generously provided.
The group consists of seven branches, including a 24-hour Tier 3 hospital and an in-house referral service led by certificate holders across multiple disciplines. This means your patients can receive advanced care without leaving the practice, supported by a passionate, highly skilled team and state-of-the-art equipment. The practice prides itself on providing gold-standard care while promoting engaged client consent, allowing you to offer the best treatment options to a loyal and growing client base. Some sole charge may be required, so previous general practice experience is important.
What the practice offers:
The surgery is equipped with an impressive range of advanced tools, including a CT scanner and visiting MRI, Doppler echocardiography, flexible and rigid endoscopes, laparoscopy and fluoroscopy, digital radiography and dental radiography, as well as advanced ultrasound, anaesthesia and surgical equipment.
Career development is fully supported, with a generous and flexible CPD budget, funded certificate opportunities, and weekly clinical meetings and case discussions.
Work-life balance is a priority, with an average four-day week, no on-call, and weekend shifts fairly distributed and compensated with TOIL.
The benefits package is extensive and includes 6.6 weeks of paid holiday (including Bank Holidays), RCVS membership plus one additional professional membership paid, access to the Healthshield Employee Assistance Programme, workplace pension, enhanced parental leave, a buy/sell holiday scheme, VDS cover for the clinical team, employee-funded private medical cover, generous staff pet discounts, a Cycle to Work scheme, long-service awards, and internal recognition programs. Flexible working arrangements are welcomed.
Who we’re looking for:
The ideal candidate is an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon, confident in general practice duties and occasional sole charge. You will be a strong communicator, an excellent team player, and committed to maintaining high clinical standards and providing outstanding patient care.
Location:
Based in South Manchester, the practice is perfectly positioned for both city and country living. You’ll have easy access to vibrant Manchester, as well as the Peak District and Lake District for countryside escapes, all with excellent transport links.
