My Client have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and capable Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Surgeon to join a team at their Hospital in Wimbledon. This position is available for a fixed 12-month period to provide maternity cover for one of their valued night vets as they begin their parenting journey in the new year.
This Hospital offers a diverse and engaging caseload, combining routine procedures with a strong focus on emergency and critical care. The hospital serves its own loyal client base while also providing referrals from nearby practices for more complex cases that require hospital-level expertise. Working there means you’ll be part of a well-resourced and highly regarded hospital team where every night brings a new challenge and an opportunity to make a real difference.
The hospital also benefits from the support of visiting specialists in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, cardiology, and physiotherapy. This ensures that any patients admitted overnight can seamlessly transition to daytime specialist care when needed, giving you confidence and peace of mind during your shifts.
They are looking for a confident night vet who is comfortable working sole charge and managing emergency cases independently. Previous experience in an ECC setting is ideal, along with the ability to handle ward cases and perform emergency surgeries when required. You’ll be supported during every shift by an experienced registered veterinary nurse, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of overnight care. The clinical management team is also available for daytime support and advice whenever needed.
Located in the heart of Wimbledon. the Hospital is just a ten-minute walk from Wimbledon Junction Station, providing excellent connections across London via the District Line and National Rail. If you live locally, parking is available nearby at a convenient RingGo location, with minimal costs due to shift times. For those who prefer, accommodation in a nearby shared house is also available for nights on duty.
The role follows a highly appealing night rota of four nights on and seventeen nights off, averaging around 17 hours per week, with shifts starting at 7:30 p.m. There’s also the opportunity to pick up additional shifts throughout the year if desired. The salary for this rotation ranges from £30,275 to £41,087.50 (equivalent to £70,000–£95,000 FTE for a 40-hour week), depending on experience.
Excellent benefits package. This includes 6.6 weeks of annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata), paid lunch breaks, a generous CPD budget of up to £2,000 per year with up to five days of paid study leave, and private medical insurance through Bupa.
If you’re an experienced ECC vet looking for a rewarding role with an established and caring team in one of London’s most sought-after locations, we would love to hear from you.
