My client, a 24 hour hospital in Lancashire is looking to welcome a Night Veterinary Surgeon to its dedicated out-of-hours team on a one-year fixed term contract. This role offers the chance to be part of a well-established, community-focused practice that prides itself on delivering exceptional standards of care, supported by excellent facilities and resources all in one place.
You will be joining a friendly, experienced and highly supportive team, working closely with a partner and practice manager. The practice benefits from a strong clinical support network, with six vets, seven day RVNs, three night RVNs, four CCAs and one VCA working collaboratively to provide seamless, round-the-clock care for patients.
The night rota is designed to promote a healthy work–life balance, operating on a five-nights-on, ten-nights-off pattern, with shifts running from 7:00pm through to 9:00am. This allows you to focus on delivering consistent, high-quality overnight care while enjoying extended time away from work to rest and recharge.
Exceptional care underpins everything the team does, extending not only to patients and clients but also to colleagues. In this role, you will be responsible for managing emergency and in-patient cases overnight, communicating clearly and compassionately with clients, and ensuring accurate, thorough handovers to the day team. You will be confident working independently during night shifts, while also contributing positively to the supportive, collaborative culture that defines the practice.
You will have access to a comprehensive benefits package designed to support both your professional and personal wellbeing. This includes private medical insurance, a health cash plan covering dental, physiotherapy and optical care, and access to a 24/7 private GP service. Life assurance is provided at three times your salary, alongside confidential counselling support available whenever you may need it. Your ongoing development will be actively supported through a £1,500 annual CPD allowance, internal CPD and Clinical Communities, and funded certificate opportunities, with VDS, RCVS and BVA fees fully paid. Additional benefits include eligibility for a sabbatical based on length of service, an interest-free season ticket loan, a Cycle to Work scheme, staff discounts, support with Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa and relocation where required.
