This lovely practice based in Crediton, Devon, is seeking an experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to become part of its welcoming and sociable team. The practice places strong emphasis on collaboration and creating a supportive working environment where individuals feel valued and encouraged.
As a genuinely mixed practice, the caseload spans small animals, farm, and equine work, with a particularly busy small animal component. There is a growing interest in further developing the farm and equine side of the business, making this an appealing opportunity for a vet who is keen to contribute to and expand these services. While the role would suit someone confident across all areas, there is flexibility for the successful candidate to pursue and develop particular clinical interests with full backing from the team.
Located in the heart of Mid Devon, the practice benefits from a scenic setting with easy access to countryside, coastline, and city life. The standard working pattern consists of daytime hours between 8am and 6pm across a four-day week, with part-time arrangements also open for discussion to support a healthy work-life balance.
The practice provides its own out-of-hours service, with vets taking part in a one-in-eight rota supported by a Registered Veterinary Nurse when required. To ensure adequate rest, each weekend on call is followed by a long weekend off in recognition of the additional commitment.
Professional development is a key priority, with a generous CPD allowance available and further study, including certificates, actively supported and funded. Professional fees and subscriptions are covered, and there is a clear commitment to supporting career progression at every stage, ensuring all team members have opportunities to grow their skills within a collaborative and encouraging environment.
In addition to a competitive salary of up to £60,000 depending on experience, the benefits package includes a generous annual leave entitlement of 6.6 weeks including bank holidays, contributions towards a wide range of health and wellbeing treatments through a Health Shield plan, and full coverage of RCVS membership and VDS protection. Enhanced family leave policies are in place, alongside discounted veterinary services, a Cycle to Work scheme, structured performance reviews, and company sick pay, all designed to support both personal wellbeing and professional development.
