My client’s well-established and forward-thinking veterinary group is seeking a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join its expanding team. With practices located in Paisley and Greenock, the organisation is experiencing rapid growth alongside ongoing investment in facilities, clinical services, and team development, making this an ideal time to come on board.
The team spans both sites and is made up of a diverse and experienced group of professionals. This includes two Head Receptionists supported by eleven Receptionists, a Credit Controller, and seven Animal Care Assistants. The nursing team consists of two Head Nurses, two Senior Nurses, and seven Nurses, while the veterinary team includes twenty-one Vets, among them four Clinical Directors and three Senior Vets, all of whom remain actively involved in clinical work. Leadership is provided by a Practice Manager and an Assistant Manager. Collaboration is a key strength, with vets and management working across both locations, while nursing and administrative staff are primarily based at their respective practices but provide support across sites when required.
The practice offers a wide range of clinical services and specialist expertise. Ophthalmology and Acupuncture referrals are provided with another vet currently working towards certification. The Greenock branch facilitates laparoscopic procedures carried out by two trained vets. In addition, a veterinary sonographer visits weekly on a rotating basis between the two sites, and Greenock hosts a monthly cardiology clinic led by a visiting specialist.
Significant developments are currently underway to enhance both facilities. The Paisley site is set to undergo a full refurbishment and expansion which began in January, which will introduce two operating theatres, a spacious preparation area, a dedicated dental suite, an x-ray room, a farm animal examination space, five consultation rooms, a separate waiting area for cats, and expanded laboratory facilities. Meanwhile, the Greenock practice is in the process of upgrading its ward kennels, cattery, and isolation areas.
The organisation places strong emphasis on team wellbeing, collaboration, and maintaining a positive working environment. Regular “Wellness Wednesdays” provide an opportunity for staff to unwind and connect through activities such as hypnotherapy, crafts, and bingo, often accompanied by tea and cake. Social events are also an important part of the culture, with several team outings held each year, including an annual curling night and a joint Christmas celebration for both practices.
Work-life balance is actively supported, with vets receiving a full week off following any week spent on call. team members benefit from access to an extensive learning hub, specialist support, and a generous continuing professional development allowance, with encouragement to pursue individual career growth. Recognised as Employer of the Year, the organisation is committed to fostering a supportive and progressive workplace where individuals can thrive.
Flexible working arrangements are available, allowing schedules to be tailored where possible. This opportunity would suit someone dedicated to delivering high standards of patient care, who values teamwork and is keen to be part of a practice that invests in both its people and its facilities.
