A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join one of my clients long-established team in Edinburgh. This is your chance to become part of a supportive and forward-thinking practice with a strong reputation for providing exceptional care and building lasting relationships with loyal clients.
They are seeking a confident and capable vet who is experienced across all areas of general practice. The role can be tailored to suit your lifestyle, with both full-time and part-time options available, and they actively support flexible working. You’ll take part in a 1-in-3 weekend rota, working alongside a great team during the week that includes at least one other vet, two RVNs, and two receptionists. At weekends, you’ll work sole charge with the support of a nurse and a receptionist. They also make sure everyone enjoys a paid one-hour lunch break each day.
The purpose-built, fully equipped practice is located in the heart of Edinburgh, offering a convenient setting with excellent facilities. The team includes two full-time vets, two part-time vets, three RVNs, a Practice Manager, and three client care advisors. Together, they provide high-quality veterinary care and advanced services in emergency and critical care, feline nursing, dermatology, and clinical animal behaviour.
Weekend work mainly involves emergency and urgent cases, with a limited number of routine appointments. No surgeries are scheduled during weekend shifts, allowing you to focus on immediate and critical cases. To support a great work-life balance, they operate a fixed rota and provide time off during the week following weekend shifts.
They offer a competitive salary of up to £60,000 (FTE), depending on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. This includes a paid one-hour lunch break, a generous CPD allowance with full support for further clinical interests, a contributory pension scheme, paid holidays starting at 5.6 weeks (increasing to 6.6 weeks after two years of service), and coverage of your RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees.
You’ll also enjoy a range of additional benefits, such as, 30% off veterinary services within the practice, free on-site parking, gym membership discounts, and an extra paid day off each year for your birthday. They also hold ISFM Silver Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation and are an RCVS Practice Standards member.
