Fantastic opportunity to join a great practice for an equine internship positions commencing either summer or Autumn This is a 12-month programme
The internship is designed to help candidates develop a broad range of clinical competencies, including lameness investigation, anaesthesia, reproductive medicine, diagnostic imaging, and the management of colic cases. By the end of the programme, participants should be well prepared either to enter private equine practice or to pursue further postgraduate training.
Interns will be involved in inpatient care, client communication, outpatient appointments, emergency admissions, and surgical assistance. Experience in equine anaesthesia is considered advantageous but is not mandatory. Participants will also be encouraged to prepare a case report or case series with the aim of publication in a peer-reviewed journal, and appropriate academic and clinical support will be provided.
The hospital is an RCVS-accredited equine referral centre equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities, including MRI imaging and stabling for at least 20 inpatients. The clinical team is composed of experienced veterinary surgeons and nurses, including a recognised specialist in equine surgery. The practice handles a varied caseload, offering excellent exposure across multiple areas of equine medicine and surgery.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for learning, initiative, and a strong commitment to delivering high standards of patient and client care. Candidates must hold a veterinary degree, be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and be fluent in English.
On-site accommodation is provided, and the role operates on an out-of-hours rota of one in two, including telephone duties.
