A full-time position for a veterinary surgeon is available, at my clients practice in the Midlands. Based on a 40-hour week worked over four days, with a 1:3 Saturday morning rota and no out-of-hours requirements.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon seeking a rewarding first opinion role with a varied caseload and the chance to build meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and clients. At this practice, compassion, clinical excellence, and professional development go hand in hand. The practice offers a supportive and collaborative environment where career progression is genuinely encouraged.
With more than 30 years of service to the local community, they operate across two small animal sites in and around Rugeley. The practice benefits from modern, recently renovated, light and spacious premises, including two theatres at the Rugeley site, digital X-ray, a Vista scanner, in-house laboratory equipment, ultrasound, and dental radiography. Both sites maintain high clinical standards and hold Silver Cat-Friendly status, alongside Silver RWAF, Dog Friendly recognition, and Green Investors in the Environment (iiE) accreditation.
The successful candidate will enjoy a balanced and flexible caseload, typically including dedicated surgery and consultation time as well as mixed days. However, the structure can be tailored to reflect individual clinical interests and preferences. The location offers the charm of a market town lifestyle while remaining within easy reach of Birmingham, approximately 50 minutes away, with convenient access to Birmingham Airport.
The team consists of four experienced Veterinary Surgeons, a new graduate, a skilled nursing team with Schedule Three training, and a welcoming client care team. A strong emphasis is placed on CPD and further qualifications, with close links to other practices in the region, providing access to additional facilities, shared learning opportunities, and collaborative case support.
The practice fosters a close-knit, sociable, and motivated culture, where teamwork and high standards of patient care are central. As a community-focused clinic, building lasting client relationships and ensuring case continuity are key priorities.
The role would suit a confident small animal Veterinary Surgeon who is comfortable with routine primary care duties and keen to continue developing clinically. An interest in advancing skills is welcomed and actively supported.
In return, the package includes five weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays and a birthday day off, relocation support, paid RCVS and VDS fees, an employer pension contribution, life assurance, an electric car salary sacrifice scheme, enhanced family leave, and access to extensive internal and funded external CPD.
