Veterinary Surgeon – Orthopaedics
Full-Time or Part-Time, South Wales
Are you a vet with a passion for orthopaedic surgery? Whether you’re already confident with advanced procedures or looking to develop your skills, this could be an exciting opportunity for you.
After many fantastic years, the resident dedicated orthopaedic vet at this practice is moving on to new adventures—creating a rare chance to step into a well-established surgical caseload in a supportive, forward-thinking practice.
Based in South Wales they are seeking a team player who:
• Has experience in TPLO, CCWO, TTA, and fracture repair – or a strong interest in learning them
• Is happy balancing orthopaedic cases with routine GP work – we still love a good vaccination!
• Enjoys variety and is comfortable working across multiple branches
Not quite at the advanced surgery level yet? That’s okay! they can offer structured support and mentoring, including access to a visiting RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Surgery, Endoscopy, and Endosurgery. Some prior surgical experience or CPD in orthopaedics is preferred.
About the Role
• Full-time (4-day week) or part-time – flexible for the right person
• 15-minute appointments with protected admin time
• Start: 8:45am | Last consult: 6:15pm
• Saturday rota: 1 in 5 | Inpatient on-call support: 1 in 6 (Mon–Fri only)
• No out-of-hours callouts – our experienced nursing team provides overnight care, with vet backup as needed
You’ll rotate across four RCVS-accredited branches, delivering a mix of consultations and procedures. Orthopaedic surgeries are primarily based at the recently refurbished Abergavenny site.

• Supportive, close-knit team that lifts each other up
• Wellbeing matters – full breaks, admin time, and finish on time are standard, not perks
• Family-friendly flexibility – ideal for working parents or vets returning to practice
• Invested in your growth – CPD, certificates, and leadership ambitions encouraged
• Fun culture – work hard but enjoy team socials, baking, and in-house competitions
• Beautiful surroundings – national parks, walking trails, and great coffee shops just outside our doors
