Ready for your next veterinary adventure?
If you’re a passionate Veterinary Surgeon looking for a practice that truly values teamwork, professional growth, and exceptional patient care, my client in Somerset could be the perfect next step in your career.
This is a thriving, forward-thinking first opinion and referral practice with a supportive team of 24 vets, including Certificate holders in Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology and Feline Medicine, as well as a visiting Ophthalmology Diplomate. You’ll be primarily based at a large branch surgery, with the support of a 24-hour small animal hospital in Frome, where a dedicated night nurse team ensures continuous, high-quality care for their patients.
Facilities there are second to none. They have modern consulting rooms and operating theatres equipped for laparoscopic surgery, a brand-new CT scanner, an onsite laboratory, ultrasound, digital and dental X-ray facilities, and an orthopaedic referral service. They are ISFM Cat Friendly accredited, and also offer laser therapy, isolation units, and dedicated staff areas designed to support your wellbeing at work.
Situated on the beautiful Somerset and Wiltshire border, they enjoy easy access to Bath, Bristol, Salisbury, and the Cotswolds. With London and the south coast just a short journey away by train or car, it’s a wonderful location for both work and life. They are also one of the few local practices that provides own out-of-hours emergency service on-site, ensuring continuity of care for clients and their pets.
The large, experienced team is supported by three Lead Vets and Clinical Directors who oversee the smooth running of the practices and ensure that every clinician has the support they need to thrive. Within the team, there is a wide range of clinical interests including orthopedics, ECC, cardiology, internal medicine, exotics, dentistry, ultrasound imaging, and laparoscopic surgery, offering endless opportunities for professional development and case variety.
They are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with routine consultations and surgeries and enjoys working collaboratively within a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to ongoing learning are essential. Whether you’re recently qualified or more experienced, they provide the support and guidance you need to continue growing. You must be RCVS-registered and have completed your VetGDP.
In return, They offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and career progression. You’ll receive five weeks of holiday plus bank holidays and an additional day off for your birthday. RCVS and VDS fees are paid, and you’ll have access to both funded external CPD and online CPD programme. They provide opportunities for career progression, staff discounts, enhanced family leave and sickness pay, life assurance, and an e-car salary sacrifice scheme, along with employer pension contributions. The wellbeing initiatives include an Employee Assistance Programme, eyecare vouchers, a free annual flu jab, and participation in the Cycle to Work scheme.
This is a permanent position with both full-time and part-time options available. The salary is up to £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience, and the role is based across their practices in Somerset and Wiltshire.
