My client has a close-knit team based close to Leeds and are seeking another vet to add to the team who thrives in an environment that values collaboration, progression, and the highest standard of patient care.
They are offering a full-time day vet position ideally suited to someone with strong general practice experience and particular interest in ECC, surgery, or inpatient care. The role is based on a four-day working week, Monday to Friday, with participation in a 1-in-4 weekend rota. Weekend shifts are shared, with no sole charge, and consist of ten hours on both Saturday and Sunday, primarily focused on ECC, 30-minute sick-pet consultations, and inpatient care. The caseload is varied, complex, and deeply rewarding, supported by certificate holders in surgery, medicine and dentistry, along with an annual CPD budget of £1,500 and active encouragement for further certification.
The hospital is RCVS-accredited Hospital and Emergency Service Clinic and provides out-of-hours and referral support to sixteen surrounding practices, while also running a thriving first-opinion service. This unique blend offers the diversity of general practice alongside the workflow continuity and advanced clinical opportunities usually associated with referral centres. Equipped with exceptional facilities, they are well placed to deliver the very best care at every stage of a case.
Growth and innovation are central to their ethos. A recent major extension has tripled the working space, expanded the team, and opened the door to enhanced flexibility, new progression pathways, and increased capacity for in-house CPD and training. Most recently, they have partnered with an external CT provider, further strengthening the clinical continuity and diagnostic capability.
The weekly shift pattern typically includes one general-practice surgical day, one consulting day with standard 30-minute sick-pet appointments, and two late inpatient shifts finishing at 10 pm, encompassing hospital handovers, inpatient management, emergency transfers, ECC procedures and surgeries, as well as emergency sick-pet consults. Throughout this, you will have the support of a highly skilled clinical team with diverse expertise. Many of the vets and nurses hold certificates in their specialist areas, and the team works closely together through discussion groups, regular in-house CPD sessions, and an open, supportive culture. The management team includes a mental-health first aider, and one of the nurses is currently training as a life coach, ensuring wellbeing is always prioritised.
Alongside joining an ambitious, friendly, and forward-thinking team, you will enjoy a competitive salary based on experience, a contributory pension, generous CPD funding, paid RCVS and VDS memberships, free onsite parking, and access to exclusive company benefits and rewards.
