Small animal veterinary surgeon required
This long-established village practice holds a London postcode but retains a genuinely local, neighbourly spirit. Many clients have entrusted their animals to the practice for generations, allowing the team to build lasting relationships and follow pets through every stage of life. The focus here is not speed or volume, but thoughtful, continuous care delivered with consistency and compassion.
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will join a stable and supportive team where vets, nurses and care assistants work closely together. Cases are seen through from start to finish, handovers are personal, and inpatients are cared for in-house by people who know them well. Team wellbeing is a genuine priority, and the working environment is shaped to allow high standards of care without losing sight of what matters most.
The practice is led by a Practice Manager, who has been part of the team for over 20 years. With a background in nursing, they lead with warmth, fairness and clear expectations, focusing on developing the team’s skills while protecting a working day that allows clinicians to do their best work without unnecessary pressure.
The caseload is varied and rewarding, combining consultations, surgery, long-term care and a loyal client base of familiar faces. Out-of-hours emergencies are handled externally, with on-call responsibilities limited to the care of inpatients only and rarely impacting personal time.
This opportunity would suit a Veterinary Surgeon who values continuity of care, enjoys building meaningful client relationships and takes pride in careful, considered medicine. It is a role for someone who believes in doing the job properly, supported by a team that shares the same values.
The role is full time, averaging 41.5 hours per week, with two Saturdays in every six and one night per week on call for inpatients only.
The practice is seeking a confident clinician who is comfortable with consultations and routine surgery, able to work independently while valuing strong team support, and who brings kindness, consistency and a calm approach to their work.
The benefits package is comprehensive and includes five weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays and an additional birthday day off, paid RCVS and VDS fees, funded external CPD alongside access to an extensive online CPD programme, and genuine opportunities for career progression. Accommodation can be provided if required. Additional benefits include staff discount schemes, life assurance, enhanced sickness pay, enhanced family leave, a pension scheme with employer contributions, an electric car salary sacrifice option, and a broad wellness programme offering employee assistance support, eyecare vouchers, annual flu jabs, a cycle-to-work scheme and a recruitment referral reward.
This is an opportunity to join a practice where care, continuity and people still come first.
