An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a practice in Stoke on Trent area at a pivotal time, following new ownership and a fresh vision for the future. This role is ideally suited to a confident clinician who enjoys surgery and is keen to take a more active leadership role, supporting the practice owners in guiding and developing the wider veterinary team. The position offers a salary of up to £65,000 (full-time equivalent), depending on experience.
The practice has recently relocated to significantly larger premises, doubling in size and enhancing its facilities. It is now equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including a CT scanner that also accepts external referrals. A dedicated rehabilitation department, led by an in-house physiotherapist, provides hydrotherapy and physiotherapy services, including an underwater treadmill. Additional facilities include digital radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, and fully equipped surgical and dental suites. The team benefits from experienced nursing support and approachable leadership that promotes open communication and continual improvement.
This role is ideally full time, though part-time and flexible working arrangements will be considered. The rota includes one in four Saturdays from 9am to 12pm, with no out-of-hours, Sunday, or bank holiday commitments. Protected time is built into the day for case follow-ups and client communication, and lunch breaks are actively safeguarded.
Professional development is strongly encouraged, with a generous CPD allowance and full support for certificate study. Professional memberships, including RCVS, VDS, and one additional membership of the clinician’s choice, are covered. The culture within the practice is collaborative and supportive, with a genuine emphasis on teamwork, celebrating successes, and maintaining morale during busier or more challenging days.
The ideal candidate will have a few years experience in both consultations and routine surgical procedures, along with excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient and client care.
Located in Stoke-on-Trent, the practice benefits from an area that offers an excellent quality of life. With affordable housing and a lower cost of living, the city is well positioned between the Peak District and the Cheshire plains, providing easy access to countryside pursuits. Strong transport links connect the area to Manchester, Birmingham, and London, while the city itself offers a welcoming community, reputable schools, and a growing arts, leisure, and dining scene.
