Veterinary Surgeon – Shape Your Career with a Supportive Team in the Merthyr area
Are you a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon looking for a varied, rewarding role in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment? This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced vet to join a 2 friendly teams in beautiful South Wales. Working across two branches.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both surgical and medical cases and is looking to work alongside a skilled and motivated team. You'll be joining a team that includes a certificate holder in surgery and dentistry, as well as talented vets and nurses who are actively involved in schedule 3 procedures. Together, they deliver excellent patient care and continuously strive to raise clinical standards.
The main practice is a busy and spacious first-opinion site that regularly handles emergency and critical care cases. It features three consulting rooms, a fully equipped theatre, and an imaging suite. They also have access to advanced ultrasound support via Veterinary Vision Services. Just a short drive away, the other branch offers a smaller, community-focused setting, allowing for a diverse and balanced working week.
The role is full time, offering 40 hours over four days—three days based at the main site and one at the smaller branch—with a shared Saturday rota of 1 in 4. However, they understand that flexibility matters, and are happy to discuss part-time hours or alternative arrangements to fit your lifestyle.

As part of this role, you'll provide exceptional care during consultations and surgeries, offer clear and compassionate advice to pet owners, and prepare personalised treatment plans with transparent estimates.
They’re seeking a Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS who brings experience in first opinion practice, confidence in routine surgery and consults, and a genuine passion for working as part of a team. If you have experience in clinical leadership or a drive to develop those skills, they’d love to support you in that journey.

Annual leave starts at five weeks plus bank holidays and rises to six weeks with service, along with an extra paid ‘Day for You’ to take whenever you like. they provide a generous CPD budget of £1,500 per year with three days of paid leave, support for certificate study, and full payment of your RCVS, VDS, and BVA memberships.
Other benefits include relocation and visa sponsorship support.
