Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) – Independent Practice Opportunity
Location: Peterborough
My independent client are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to become a key part of a friendly, independent veterinary team in Peterborough.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll have the opportunity to deliver high-quality clinical care, support the veterinary surgeons in procedures, and provide clients with valuable guidance on animal health and welfare. They value teamwork, patient wellbeing, and open communication—and are seeking someone who shares those values.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide daily inpatient care—administer medications, monitor recovery, feed, groom, and offer comfort
• Perform nursing procedures including blood sampling, IV catheter placement, and anaesthetic monitoring
• Assist in diagnostic processes such as radiography, blood analysis, and urinalysis
• Record and update patient notes meticulously
• Ensure patients remain clean, comfortable, and closely observed
• Prepare surgical suites and patients for procedures
• Support the veterinary team during surgeries, maintaining aseptic technique
• Monitor anaesthesia and patient recovery
• Clean and sterilise surgical instruments and equipment
• Educate clients on post-operative care, nutrition, preventative healthcare, and overall welfare
• Handle enquiries in person, over the phone, or via email with empathy and professionalism
• Work alongside reception staff to support triage and client communication as neede
Looking For
• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse
• Strong animal handling and confident clinical nursing skills
• Excellent communication with clients and colleagues alike
• Calm, professional, and composed under pressure
• A proactive approach to learning and development
Desirable:
• Clinical Coach qualification or willingness to train
• Special interests (e.g. exotics, emergency & critical care, physiotherapy, behaviour)
Working Conditions
• Full-time (up to 40 hours/week), flexible rota
• Some evenings, weekends, and bank holidays required
• Active, physical role including lifting and extended periods of standing
• Involvement in emotionally sensitive or distressing cases may occur
Salary & Benefits
Hourly Rate: £14.00–£14.50 (Dependent on Experience)
• Yearly bonus
• Performance-based bonus scheme
