Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
Maternity Cover – with potential for a permanent role
East Devon
This practice is East Devon’s leading independent small animal practice, is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a welcoming team this autumn.
They’ve been proudly independent for over eleven years and remain 100% vet-owned. Across our two modern sites in the Sidmouth area, they’ve built a reputation for putting people and patients first, combining excellent facilities with a supportive, close-knit team who genuinely care for one another as much as for the animals.
This role offers plenty of flexibility: you can join on a maternity cover contract starting in December, or on a permanent basis if you’d prefer, as the practice continues to grow. Hours can be full-time or part-time, though ideally looking for cover on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Your time will be split between both practices, and while there is a commitment to Saturday mornings, this is officially 1 in 4 and currently closer to 1 in 6. There are no out-of-hours responsibilities at all, ensuring a healthy work–life balance.
You’ll be joining a 24-person team that includes six vets and six RVNs, all working together in a friendly and supportive environment. Both practices are RCVS Small Animal General Practice accredited and equipped to a very high standard, with facilities such as digital x-ray, colour Doppler Phillips ultrasound, a dedicated operating theatre, multiparameter monitoring with capnography and NIBP, digital tonometry, and laparoscopic spays.
In return, they offer a competitive salary along with a £1,000 CPD allowance (pro rata) which can also cover travel and accommodation costs. They actively encourage and support CPD so that you can continue to develop your skills, and provide a friendly, collaborative workplace where you’ll be valued as an individual.
If you’re an RVN who wants to work in a genuinely independent, team-focused environment with modern facilities and a great work–life balance, I’d love to hear from you.
