An enthusiastic RVN is sought to join a warm and friendly team, and applications are warmly welcomed. This is a locally owned practice with the support of a larger organisation. With a loyal client base who truly value the service provided, this is a practice that new team members are sure to enjoy being part of.
About the Practice
The practice’s excellent location provides exposure to a wide variety of cases and a wonderful, loyal client base. The friendly team consists of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 3 RVNs, 1 SVN, 2 VCAs and 5 CCAs. Approximately 60% of clients are insured. The practice is a busy, well-equipped, purpose-built facility designed to industry-leading standards.
About the Candidate
Applications are welcomed from experienced RVNs as well as confident newly qualified veterinary nurses who are comfortable working across all areas of practice. The successful candidate will support the daily running of the practice, ensuring a high standard of care for both patients and clients.
Veterinary nurses are at the heart of the practice and play an integral clinical role in patient care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, take pride in working to a high standard, and show an interest in learning about the business side of the practice. An ability to motivate and support the team in achieving both personal and practice goals is key. Success in this role will come from embracing all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role while consistently delivering outstanding patient and client care.
About the Role
This is a full-time position with a 1 in 4 weekend rota, working Saturdays from 9am to 6pm, and no out-of-hours requirements.
Key responsibilities include conducting treatments in line with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3 procedures, such as injections, medication administration, fluid therapy, dressings and first aid as directed. The role also involves taking X-rays, assisting with diagnostic procedures, anaesthesia, supporting the veterinary surgeon during surgeries, and providing post-operative care.
Additional duties include nursing in-patients (including some intensive care), pain scoring, implementing appropriate enrichment for long-stay patients, triaging patients for veterinary attention, dispensing medications in accordance with professional guidelines, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
A dedicated reception team is employed at the surgery; however, excellent customer service skills are essential when dealing with client queries and conducting nurse consultations. The role involves close collaboration with the Practice Owner and senior team members to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, as well as proactively contributing to the ongoing development and success of both the practice and the team.
Benefits
Joining the practice means becoming part of a dynamic and supportive team committed to delivering exceptional standards of animal and client care. The role offers a friendly working environment, career development opportunities, and an excellent benefits package, including:
• Competitive salary starting from £30,000 (dependent on experience)
• CPD allowance
• Professional memberships paid
• 5.6 weeks’ holiday plus an extra day off for birthdays
• Contributory pension scheme
• Exclusive company discounts and rewards
