OOH Veterinary Surgeon – Wiltshire
My client are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated Out-of-Hours service, This opportunity has arisen as one of the team relocates, and it’s a rare chance to become part of a progressive, expanding, RCVS-accredited practice with an excellent reputation.
Launched in January 2022, this OOH service has quickly established itself, receiving fantastic feedback from both clients and practices. You’ll be based within their Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital in Chippenham, a facility that has earned ISFM Cat Friendly gold status and is equipped to the highest standard. With investment continuing — including plans to add a CT scanner — you’ll have access to the tools and support needed to provide outstanding emergency care. The hospital is complemented by branches in Calne, Corsham and Melksham.
Chippenham itself is an ideal location, with the M4 nearby and the train station just five minutes away, making it highly accessible. The surrounding area offers the best of both worlds: the beauty of the Cotswolds and the energy of cities such as Bath, Bristol and Cardiff. And with London only an hour away by train, you’ll never be short of options for how to spend your downtime.
This role offers a rota that prioritises balance: seven nights on, followed by 14 nights off, averaging 31.5 hours per week. There’s no day work required, though you’re welcome to get involved with the weekend day team if you’d like to broaden your case load. Each night you’ll work alongside an experienced RVN, so while there will be sole-charge responsibilities, you’ll always have skilled support by your side. They believe in providing continuity for patients, professional satisfaction for the team, and real value for clients — and are looking for someone who shares that approach.
They’re offering a salary of up to £65,000, inclusive of holiday pay, along with 6.6 weeks of leave. CPD is strongly encouraged, with a £1,750 annual allowance (more for those undertaking post-graduate qualifications), and they’ll cover your RCVS fees, VDS cover, and one other professional membership.
Your wellbeing matters, so you’ll have access to Health Shield, enhanced maternity, paternity and family leave, company sick pay, and discounted veterinary fees. A scheme brings cashback and discounts on shopping, travel and entertainment, while our cycle-to-work scheme, annual pay reviews, and CPD support underline our commitment to both your career development and your quality of life.
At this hospital you won’t just find a role — you’ll discover a team that values your skills, supports your growth, and respects your work-life balance.
