Locum Veterinary Surgeon Required – Ongoing Position from beginning of May
A well-established small animal practice is seeking an experienced Locum Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on an ongoing basis ideally starting in May
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and committed locum looking for consistent work within a structured and supportive environment.
The practice is a dedicated small animal clinic with a team of five veterinarians. It operates seven days a week, providing high standards of care to its clients and patients.
Key features of the role include:
• Small animal only practice
• Five-vet team
• Open 7 days per week
• No out-of-hours commitments
• No on-call duties
• Accommodation provided
The successful locum will be expected to take part in a structured rota, averaging 37 hours per week, typically comprising:
• Two 8:00am–7:00pm shifts
• One 8:00am–4:00pm shift
• One 8:00am–5:00pm shift
Weekend commitment is 1 in 4 weekends:
• Saturday: 9:00am–3:00pm
• Sunday: 10:00am–3:00pm
This equates to an average of 40 hours per week or 160 hours over a four-week period. Rotas are organised approximately three months in advance, allowing both parties adequate notice for requested time off.
Candidate Requirements
• Confidence with both consultations and routine surgical procedures
• Expected number of consultations considered manageable in a 10-hour day (both a “comfortable” and “busy” workload)
• Commitment to preventative healthcare principles
• Willingness to participate fully in a rota system
This opportunity would suit a proactive and team-oriented locum vet who values continuity, clear scheduling, and a well-supported working environment. Accommodation is available, making it ideal for candidates travelling from outside the local area.
