A rare and exciting opportunity has become available at this Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services Clinic in Barnsley, for an Out-of-Hours Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join the team. Applications are welcomed from both newly qualified and experienced nurses who are seeking a fresh challenge.
This Hospital is a well-established and highly regarded facility, providing comprehensive 24/7 care with a dedicated on-site team. Since opening almost 20 years ago, it has developed into a centre of excellence, equipped with advanced technology including a CT scanner, rigid and flexible endoscopes, and ultrasound machines. The hospital offers a wide range of services, from neurosurgery and orthopaedics to minimally invasive procedures, stem cell therapy, chemotherapy, and first-opinion practice. Its commitment to high standards of care is demonstrated by four outstanding RCVS awards.
The team consists of 15 Veterinary Surgeons, including a dedicated out-of-hours team, alongside 17 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Student Veterinary Nurses, 5 Animal Care Assistants, and a skilled non-clinical support team. Together, they are committed to delivering exceptional care across both general and referral cases, ensuring continuity of treatment for every patient.
The role is suited to a nurse with solid general nursing experience and excellent customer service skills. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, approachable, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare. This is a full-time position working a 7-on, 7-off rota from 7:15pm to 7:30am.
In return, the position offers a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package. This includes no additional out-of-hours or overnight inpatient checks, a CPD allowance, a strong focus on wellbeing with social events, a contributory pension scheme, and paid professional memberships such as RCVS, BVNA, and VDS. Employees also benefit from exclusive discounts and rewards.
This opportunity would suit someone who shares a passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and excellent client service, and who is looking to be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team.
