A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join this team in Merthyr Tydfil. The practice is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys both medicine and surgery, working closely alongside the Partner and a dedicated team of veterinary surgeons and nurses. The nursing team actively undertakes Schedule 3 procedures, creating a collaborative environment where high standards of patient care are consistently maintained.
Merthyr Tydfil is a busy first-opinion practice with a high volume of emergency and critical care cases. The clinic is housed in a spacious building featuring three consulting rooms, an operating theatre, and an imaging room. Additional support for ultrasound scanning is available through collaboration with VVS, ensuring access to advanced diagnostic services when required.
Located in the vibrant South Wales town of Merthyr Tydfil, the practice benefits from a strong sense of community and excellent access to outdoor activities in the Brecon Beacons, including hiking and cycling. Good road connections link the town to Cardiff and the M4, offering an ideal balance of countryside living with city accessibility.
The role is full-time, comprising 40 hours over four days per week with a one-in-four Saturday rota. Part-time arrangements may also be considered to suit individual lifestyles.

Annual leave includes five weeks plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service, Learning and development are supported through a £1,500 CPD allowance, three days of paid CPD leave per year, access to Clinical Communities, internal CPD programs, and 24-hour hospitals, along with funded certificates and structured career pathways. Additional support includes payment of RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees, relocation assistance and visa sponsorship where required, and sabbatical options based on length of service.
