Senior Clinical Director –Northamptonshire
My client are offering a rare opportunity for an established clinical leader to step into the role of Senior Clinical Director. They are looking for someone with the skills and experience to guide a talented team, set and uphold clinical strategy and standards, and ensure the continuation of the exceptional care that they are known for.
About them
For more than 30 years, they have been a trusted name in veterinary care across Northamptonshire. The group has grown to five branches alongside a 24-hour Small Animal Veterinary Hospital, which has recently been transformed with a state-of-the-art upgrade. The hospital is equipped with superb facilities, including a CT scanner, purpose-built clinical spaces, excellent team amenities, and a dedicated out-of-hours provision. They are a forward-thinking practice, proud of the focus on people as much as patients.
The Role
As Senior Clinical Director, you will take overarching responsibility for the group’s clinical provision across multiple sites. Working closely with an experienced Business Development Director, you will manage senior vets and branch leads, guiding strategy and standards while championing clinical excellence.
Your remit will include shaping service delivery, supporting departmental heads, identifying opportunities for growth, and ensuring a consistently high standard of patient care. Day to day, you’ll balance leadership with hands-on clinical work, running the hospital’s clinical provision, managing your own caseload, and leading senior veterinary colleagues.
You’ll also play a central role in governance and clinical direction, including oversight of out-of-hours care (though no night work will be required). With the support of a highly skilled RVN team and leadership colleagues, this is a chance to make a tangible impact in a senior role with both clinical autonomy and scope for development.
About You
They’re seeking a confident, dynamic, and compassionate leader with proven clinical management experience. You’ll be highly organised, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to deliver results while inspiring those around you. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise, delegate, and support colleagues.
The successful candidate will be a skilled clinician, capable of making sound clinical decisions and experienced in appraising and developing team members. Above all, they seek a leader who sees success through the growth and achievement of their teams, and who values the importance of people as much as patients.
Working Pattern
This is envisaged as a full-time role, though they are happy to consider flexible working patterns to suit your circumstances. You will also participate in a weekend rota.
Rewards and Benefits
They recognise the importance of attracting the right person for this pivotal role, so the package will be generous and tailored to your qualifications and experience, with salaries typically ranging from £70,000 to £100,000. Relocation support will be considered for the right candidate.
Benefits include 6.6 weeks’ holiday (including bank holidays), an annual CPD allowance of £1750 plus five days’ study leave, and full payment of RCVS fees, VDS cover, and two additional professional memberships. You’ll also have access to Health Shield, enhanced family leave, company sick pay, discounted veterinary fees, and participation in our Cycle to Work scheme.
You’ll benefit from colleague wellbeing initiatives, annual pay reviews, and perks such as discounts, cashback, and offers on travel, shopping, and entertainment. Most importantly, you’ll be joining a group that is committed to colleague engagement, professional development, and building a supportive and forward-looking workplace.
