Are you a dedicated veterinary professional with at least three years of UK experience and a passion for emergency and out-of-hours care? My clients are seeking a Night Veterinary Surgeon to join a skilled and supportive team at a fully equipped 24-hour hospital in South London.
Based in the Southwark area, this hospital is in a vibrant and creative part of London, known for its leafy Georgian streets, Victorian and Edwardian architecture, and modern developments. Despite being close to central London, it offers an abundance of green spaces including Burgess Park, Ruskin Park, and Myatt’s Fields, making it a wonderful area to both work and live. The neighbourhood is also rich in culture, with independent cafés, global street food, gastropubs, and a welcoming community feel. It’s an eclectic and authentic part of the city, ideal for those who enjoy both cultural variety and open green spaces.
The practice is a busy, purpose-built hospital. It is well equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, dedicated operating theatres, a dental suite, and separate wards for cats, dogs, and isolation cases. The hospital also benefits from access to an on-site CT scanner.
You will be working a rota of seven nights on followed by fourteen nights off, alongside a dedicated team that includes two Partners, a Head Veterinary Nurse, six Registered Veterinary Nurses, three Student Veterinary Nurses, and a team of Client Care and Veterinary Care Assistants. This role will often involve sole charge, so applicants should be confident across all aspects of general practice veterinary care.
To thrive in this role, you must be an RCVS-registered veterinary surgeon with experience of delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients. You will be a strong team player with proven leadership skills, able to support a positive and progressive clinical culture. Experience in guiding nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures is important, as is the ability to coach and influence colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes.
In return, they offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support both your professional development and personal wellbeing.
•    Private medical insurance, a health cash plan covering dental, physio and optical services, and a 24/7 private GP service.
•    Life assurance at three times your salary,
•    Generous holiday allowance of five weeks plus bank holidays that increases with service,
•    You will also benefit from funded CPD worth £1,500 per year with three days of paid leave, opportunities for internal learning and funded certificates
•    Full payment of your VDS, RCVS, and BVA fees.
•    Long-term rewards include sabbatical opportunities,
•    Pension
•    Full support for visa sponsorship and relocation if required.
