Mixed Veterinary Surgeon – No On-Call or Weekends
Full-time or part-time | Varied caseload | Supportive, experienced team
Are you a dedicated Mixed Vet looking for a role that offers both clinical variety and genuine work-life balance? At this well-established practice, you’ll work alongside a talented and supportive team that includes a Lead Vet, a Mixed Vet, a Small Animal Vet and a full complement of clinical and support staff. Together, they provide exceptional care across a wide range of species.
This role is genuinely diverse. You'll be involved in large animal work, support equine and small animal cases, and contribute to export certification one day each week. Whether you're looking to broaden your skills or continue developing in your areas of interest, this opportunity offers the variety and support to help you grow.
The practice has built a strong local reputation for delivering high-quality care to small animals, farm animals, horses, and exotics. They take pride in a collaborative approach and positive team culture, where everyone’s input is valued and supported. The position is offered as a full-time role of four days per week, from 8:00 to 18:00, with no weekends or out-of-hours requirements. They are also happy to consider part-time hours and can work with you to find a schedule that suits your lifestyle. As part of the role, you’ll provide exceptional care across your caseload, whether you’re in consults, surgery, or on routine visits. You’ll contribute to tailored, accurate treatment plans, maintain high clinical and regulatory standards, and collaborate closely with the wider team to promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. You’ll also support knowledge-sharing and ensure seamless handovers for any cases requiring additional or out-of-hours care. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with experience in mixed practice and ideally some familiarity with export work. You’ll be collaborative, client-focused, and committed to delivering the highest standard of care. Confidence supporting nurse-led consults and Schedule 3 procedures will be an advantage, along with the ability to mentor colleagues and contribute to a progressive clinical culture.
From the day you join, you’ll benefit from comprehensive support and a wide range of perks. This includes private medical insurance, a health cash plan covering dental, optical, and physiotherapy services, and access to a 24/7 private GP service. Life assurance is provided at three times your salary, alongside a confidential counselling service, and access to financial benefits such as an interest-free season ticket loan, a Cycle to Work scheme, and staff discounts You’ll receive five weeks of annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to six weeks with length of service, as well as an additional paid ‘Day for You’. Your CPD is supported with a £1,500 annual budget, three paid CPD days, access to internal development opportunities, clinical communities, and funded certificate options. They also cover your RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees and offer sabbaticals based on length of service. Visa sponsorship and relocation support
