Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Registered Head Veterinary Nurse to lead their teams across three Inverness practices. In this pivotal role, you will oversee nurse consultations, theatre nursing, and inpatient care, while managing a team of veterinary care assistants and a dispensary assistant. With a focus on empowering your colleagues and optimising operational efficiency, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the nursing department.

The client operates three premier veterinary practices within the city, delivering exceptional first opinion care to a diverse range of animals including dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, and exotic species. The main branch, situated in the vibrant heart of the town, offers the dynamic atmosphere of a bustling practice, while two branches provide opportunities for sole-charge consultations. Committed to excellence, they boast a dedicated team that thrives on mutual support and celebrates both individual and collective achievements.

Their state-of-the-art facilities are designed to cater to the unique needs of their clients and their beloved pets.  The team understand the profound bond between humans and animals, and the team is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalised care. The diverse team comprises 12 veterinarians, 12 registered nurses (including two student nurses), supported by veterinary care assistants, a pharmacy dispenser, and dedicated administrative personnel. Emphasising collaboration and continuous learning, they facilitate regular clinical discussions, ward rounds, and professional development opportunities. You will be responsible for supervising and mentor veterinary care assistants, ensuring optimal utilisation of resources and adherence to best practices. Oversee rota management, holiday scheduling, and performance appraisals for nursing staff. Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, in line with regulatory requirements. Facilitate regular team meetings and training sessions to promote collaboration and professional development. Manage inventory and stock control processes, liaising with suppliers as necessary to ensure adequate supplies. Implement and monitor improvements in working practices to enhance efficiency and client satisfaction.
