    Our client is looking for a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to work within clinic based just 30 mins from Ballymena. The role will have a Farm bias for sheep, beef and horses but also helping with some consulting in small animals. This role could suit a Veterinary Surgeon looking to work in mainly farm with some small animal and Equine work or a Veterinary Surgeon looking for a mixed role equally split across all areas.

    This is a 3-branch practice, in the middle of the Sperrin Mountains, with only a 40-minute drive to our stunning North Coast, 40-minute drive to Belfast airport and 40-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Belfast or Derry city life. Two of the branches have farm animal crush and pen and they have all the usual equipment in the main branch for both farm and small animal practice. Facilities include easy scan/small animal ultrasound, IDEXX lab station, microscope, x-ray, endoscope, ECG, kennelling/stabling facilities, small ruminant operating table and a horse stock.

    There is a team of 8 Veterinary Surgeons of which 3 have 20 years’ experience in Farm, Small Animal, and Equine and 1 Veterinary Surgeon has 10 years farm vet experience. These 4 Veterinary Surgeons have been with the practice for 10 years. They also have two 2019 graduates (previously EMS students at the clinic) and one 2020 graduate. They have an enormously dedicated Veterinary Nursing team made up of 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 3 Student Veterinary Nurses.

    The role is for 45 hours per week, with a winter rota of 1:4 weekends which changes to a summer rota of 1:6 weekends. You will be off a long weekend, either Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday after your weekend on duty. The ideal candidate will have previous experience and be happy with Calving, C-sections and uterine twist. You will also be happy to do some horse work, no PPE, but reproduction knowledge would be beneficial. You must also have some experience in small animal procedures including neutering dogs and cats, pyo op & basic emergency and critical care skills.

    The role is open to new graduates that mainly would like to work in farm with some equine work and small animal work involved in the position. Additional training and support will be given and candidates must be RCVS registered.

    Our client on the Scottish borders have a vacancy for a mixed animal vet to join their, large experience team to work in a truly mixed fashion.

    As we all know, genuinely mixed animal vet vacancies are becoming few and far between, so vacancies for mixed vets are even less common.

    This role would suit a vet who is interested in all areas of the work and relishes in the fact that no day is ever the same and wants to continue with the exceptional service the existing team have been offering for year.

    Unlike most mixed animal roles with very arduous working patterns, this client offer a 4.5 day week, only one night per week on call and only 1 weekend in 5 worked. After which the following Monday is taken as a day off.

    Practice interest include ophthalmology, orthopaedices and complex small animal surgeries. They are fantastically equipped across, small, farm and equine and they have an exceptional reputation. They are happy to help develop specialisms in any area and will support certificates if required.

    Given they are on the borders, it is easy to enjoy rural living while being only a short drive to big cities such as Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow

    With regards to package, salary up-to 55,000, 33 days holiday including bank holidays, 1500 cpd with an additional 5 days to study.
    Our client has a modern RCVS accredited Tier 2, purpose built two centre mixed practice with state-of-the art premises based at the foothills of the beautiful Mourne Mountains and only 30 minutes from Belfast and 90 minutes to Dublin.

    They have been established for over 25 years providing 24-hour emergency services to their clients. The practice currently has 9 vets, supported by a team of both Registered and Trainee Nurses, Receptionists and Support staff across the 2 clinics. The surgery facilities include all the usual: in-house labs, digital x-ray, ultrasound ECG and full orthopaedic equipment. They are also an approved Veterinary Nurse training practice.

    Working on a variety of ECC caseloads when on call to cover out of hours work at the local branches and will be in sole charge working on the farm and small animal emergencies. The role is 7 nights on (on call) 7 nights off and hours 6:30pm-8am. Salary up to 55,000 negotiable DOE.

    You must be RCVS registered, confident with sole charge and ECC work mainly within farm and small animal caseloads, must have driving licence as company van will be provided. Offsite accommodation is also available.

    Our client is an award-winning, purpose-built hospital located on the outskirts of Morpeth and easily accessible with onsite parking. They are now looking for a full time Mixed Animal Vet to join the team.

    The main hospital has radiography/endoscopy, ultrasonography, dental, laboratory and hydrotherapy suites. There are 4 modern surgical theatres and 6 consulting rooms. The vets have a wide range of experience and interests and include several certificate holders. This is a nurse training practice and they encourage their nurses to continue their education post qualification. The equine facilities include 4 stables, stocks examination room, DR x-ray, gastroscope, videoscope, power float for dentals and ultra sound machine. They have an equine nursing assistant to assist with work ups at yards on site.

    There are looking for Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to work between the small animal hospital and equine departments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work at the main hospital as well as at one of the 7 branch practices where the workload is varied with both consulting and surgical roles possible. The equine department is expanding and as such they require an extra vet to contribute to the workload. Participation in the OOH rota is essential although they are happy to be flexible in the exact split of workload between small animal and equine. The clinical team is extremely supportive and aim to offer clients an excellent service. They encourage case continuity and aim to provide an excellent atmosphere to develop your own interests.

    Previous experience working in both small animal and equine roles is preferred. Both senior small animal vets and the equine lead vet are willing to support and develop the right candidate if required. You must be an enthusiastic team player who enjoys first opinion practice. They are happy to consider a part time role for the right candidate. Further study including certificates are encouraged and supported. Drivers licence essential.

    This well-established, progressive, mixed practice, located in the picturesque market town of Helston, Cornwall are looking to recruit an enthusiastic mixed animal vet.

    The team treat a variety of species including dogs, cats, rabbits, dairy and beef cows, sheep, pigs, horses, chickens, camelids and seals. They can also provide basic care and advice for birds and reptiles.

    The friendly and supportive team are preferably looking for experience but can consider a newly qualified mixed animal vet and can support and mentor them as necessary. The caseload is a 50:50 split; small and large/equine with a great friendly team of Vets, supportive RVNs and a helpful team of Reception and Office.

    Our client is a two-branch mixed practice in Highland Perthshire, whoa re looking for a Full Time Mixed Animal vet to join them.

    The practice is surrounded by beautiful scenery with lochs and mountains. They do their own out of hours work which ensures good continuity of treatment for clients and their animals. The practice is modern and has excellent facilities including CR x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, rigid endoscopy, doppler blood pressure monitor, anaesthetic monitor and an electrosurgery machine. The location is in a quiet residential area which is easily accessible and has a car park.

    The team consists of 7 vets, who due coronavirus restrictions are split into two teams between the two surgeries. In normal times this split would not be so rigid. They have 2 vet nurses - one based at each surgery. They do not have any certificate holders or specialists in the practice although would welcome anyone who has a special interest and would support them. The practice supports a number of local shows and the younger vets often become involved with the local young farmers club which holds a lot of social events.

    The ideal candidate will have a number of years mixed practice experience with the confidence to work independently. Any special skills or interests for example in medicine or surgery would be welcomed. The candidate would be expected to take part in the rota which involves farm and equine work. Must be RCVS registered and qualified.

    Our client is looking for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join the well-established practice in the North East, Tyne and Wear. Small animal caseload of 85% and large animal 15%. Offering the best animal care with experienced and caring staff ensuring visits to the surgery pleasant from start to finish. OOHs will include one night on call per week with 2 vets always on call.

    1 IN 6 weekends will be a full weekend worked allowing 1-week day off in return on the following weekend (Monday or Friday) allowing a long weekend off. 1 in 3 Saturday morning but one of these is part of your full weekend. Some sole charge is included in the role at certain branches.

    My client are looking to recruit a mixed veterinary surgeon to join their small and very experienced team at their independent practice on the Isle of Benbecula in the windswept and beautiful Outer Hebrides, off the North West coast of Scotland. All levels of experience are welcome to apply.

    The work comprises of mix of 45% large animal, most of which are kept on crofts (small holdings) and a few small farms, 45% small animal (ranging from routine consultations to more advanced surgery) and the rest being equine, with this client base growing steadily.
    The team have all the standard equipment you would expect, including digital x-ray, brand new PMS, tup and bull fertility testing equipment, small and large animal biochemistry machine, large animal scanner and are in the process of modernising the Practice further to continue to expand and improve the service they can offer to clients.

    You will be working alongside the practice owner and veterinary assistant. They team are very keen to support a candidate through certificates/ further training and there is real scope for
    development in areas of personal interest which could then be offered as a new service at the Practice. The current on call rota is 1 in 3.

    This is ideally a full time role but my client are happy to hear from candidates who would prefer a more flexible/part time working rota and the package would be adjusted accordingly.

    The day-to-day job is very flexible, when the vets are not in surgery/consults/on large animal calls, you are not expected to hang about at the practice, instead you are free to do as you please with your 'free time' - go home, walk the dogs, go for lunch, head down the beach... so long as you can be contacted.

    The team would really love for someone to have plans to stay on the island long term and become part of this fantastic community. There is real chance for someone/a family to make a home on the Island and become an integral part of a very close-knit community. Due to the boom in pet ownership and thriving crofting community, the vets are seen as high valued members of the community.
    There is a freedom that isn't easily found in the rest of the UK. Miles and miles of beaches on the west, rugged hills on the east coast, fresh water and sea lochs in-between for fishing enthusiasts, world renowned golf courses, so many groups/clubs: wild swimming, running & park run, squash, athletics, football, crafts, art, poetry, yoga, fitness, kick boxing, sailing, nature/wildlife, horse riding, dancing, singing, choir, theatre etc the list goes on! You could have a fully packed schedule every day of the week. There are festivals in the summer and there is a fantastic music scene. There is also a big push on Gaelic, there are learner courses and plenty of opportunity for an immersive experience when speaking to locals!

    Although this is a chain of islands, they are all connected via causeways/ferries, and have all the amenities you would get anywhere else rural - nurseries, schools, gyms, banks, supermarkets, butchers/bakery, florists, swimming pool, airport (2x daily flights to Glasgow that take about 50mins), distillery, takeaways, hotels, restaurants and cafes

    The islands are also well connected with superfast broadband across the area, making home working an option for those with partners that might need a speedy internet connection.
