    Our client on the Scottish borders have a vacancy for a mixed animal vet to join their, large experience team to work in a truly mixed fashion.

    As we all know, genuinely mixed animal vet vacancies are becoming few and far between, so vacancies for mixed vets are even less common.

    This role would suit a vet who is interested in all areas of the work and relishes in the fact that no day is ever the same and wants to continue with the exceptional service the existing team have been offering for year.

    Unlike most mixed animal roles with very arduous working patterns, this client offer a 4.5 day week, only one night per week on call and only 1 weekend in 5 worked. After which the following Monday is taken as a day off.

    Practice interest include ophthalmology, orthopaedices and complex small animal surgeries. They are fantastically equipped across, small, farm and equine and they have an exceptional reputation. They are happy to help develop specialisms in any area and will support certificates if required.

    Given they are on the borders, it is easy to enjoy rural living while being only a short drive to big cities such as Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow

    With regards to package, salary up-to 55,000, 33 days holiday including bank holidays, 1500 cpd with an additional 5 days to study.
    Our client has a successful 18 vet, 4-site group of practices in Northern Ireland. This purpose-built small and large animal facilities with 4 consults, in house labs, farm and equine rooms. They are RCVS accredited with Hospital status for small animal, and General Practice for Farm and Equine. All the mod cons include 3 X Digital Xray, 2 X SA ultrasound, 3 X Farm Ultrasound, endoscope, bronchoscope, full range of anaesthetic monitoring equipment and in house blood machines.

    The team is 100% committed to their duty of care and there is a friendly, hardworking and supportive environment. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills, with access to modern equipment and facilities and varied medical and surgical cases. CPD encouraged and funded.

    The clinic is looking for an experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join them.
    They treat a range of medical and surgical cases in mixed species and you’ll have good support provided from the existing experienced team of vets. Minimal TB testing is shared out among 8 vets. There is the opportunity to develop scanning and herd health in the farm section and a wide caseload of surgical and medical small animal cases.

    The ideal candidate will have experience but all lengths of experience will be considered. Opportunity to develop further specialism. Good communication skills essential.

    They have been established for over 25 years providing 24-hour emergency services to their clients. The practice currently has 9 vets, supported by a team of both Registered and Trainee Nurses, Receptionists and Support staff across the 2 clinics. The surgery facilities include all the usual: in-house labs, digital x-ray, ultrasound ECG and full orthopaedic equipment. They are also an approved Veterinary Nurse training practice.

    Working on a variety of ECC caseloads when on call to cover out of hours work at the local branches and will be in sole charge working on the farm and small animal emergencies. The role is 7 nights on (on call) 7 nights off and hours 6:30pm-8am. Salary up to 55,000 negotiable DOE.

    You must be RCVS registered, confident with sole charge and ECC work mainly within farm and small animal caseloads, must have driving licence as company van will be provided. Offsite accommodation is also available.

    This fabulous mixed practice in the South East corner of Northern Ireland are looking for an experienced Vet to join their team working within their 1st opinion mixed practice consisting of SA, farm and equine caseloads.

    The current team of vets and nurses are based across the 2 modern purpose built surgeries and all of the team are encouraged to participate and develop in all areas of farm and domestic animal work.
    The farm work consists of dairy, sheep, and beef as the team cover all of the local farms in the area, a small percentage of equine work is available as well as working on orthopaedics & dentals and the usual SA cases. The team offer a 24-hour emergency service offering exposure to ECC cases.

    The surgery facilities include all the usual equipment such as in-house labs, digital x-ray, ultrasound ECG and full orthopaedic equipment.

    This is a full time role working across 4/5 days and will involve 1 in 9 weekends and weeknights on a shared OOH rota.

    The ideal candidate will be an experienced large animal vet surgeon, however consideration will be given to recent graduates as full support will be given.
    You must be RCVS registered and have a full UK driving licence as a company van is provided. Accommodation can be provided. CPD & further certification is supported.

    Salary is up to 45k dependent upon experience plus there is a relocation package of up to 5k available and a welcome bonus of up to 1,500.

    This 3-practice veterinary group near Keith are looking for a Full Time Mixed Animal Vet to join them.

    The practice carry out their LA and OOH at one branch which has all the usual mod cons. They have digital X-rays, scanners multi parameters, and blood machines. They are situated in the picturesque Moray famed for the beautiful coast, countryside, and wildlife. Keith itself is 1 hour from Aberdeen, Inverness, and Aviemore which has main links to the major cities via train and bus.

    The practice has 8 Veterinary Surgeons with 3 of those being small-animal only Vets. They have 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses and around 13 support staff.

    The role will be suited to a mixed Vet as you will be working in 45% Large Animal, 5% Equine, and 50% Small Animal caseloads. You will be involved in daily tasks such as consultation, operating, and carrying out farm calls and emergencies. Daily duties will be shared with other mixed vets, and the small animal work is carried out of any of the three practice but the large animal work from one clinic. You will be responsible for working up and completing your own caseloads and tasks whilst on occasion working alongside other vets on more complex cases when needed.

    You will be working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (8:00am-5:30pm) and 1:4 out of hours rota. must be RCVS registered, confident in sole charge and have similar experience within a mixed vet surgeon role, must have full UK driving licence as company vehicle will be provided, they fully support and encourage further certification and offer funding for this.

Services offered by the practice include Flock Health Club, Suckler Package, Beef AI service, DairyCo Mastitis Control Plan, bull and ram fertility testing, Interherd+, and Advanced Sheep Breeding services performing laparoscopic AI and ET. They operate an equally shared rota with 1st and 2nd on-call weekend rota during busy spring and autumn calving periods, and currently 1:6 weekend rota the remainder of the year and one weeknight on-call.     They are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic vet, with flexibility for the role to be adapted to your level of experience.     The rota encourages a healthy life-work balance with time off after nights and weekends on call and the current rota is 2:8, so 1 in 4 nights and weekends with 2 vets on call for farm only.

    You must be able to work within a team and individually. Good communication skills with vets, office staff and clients are essential. A positive, proactive and flexible attitude is desired. Sense of humour also beneficial.

The equine facilities include 4 stables, stocks examination room, DR x-ray, gastroscope, videoscope, power float for dentals and ultra sound machine. They have an equine nursing assistant to assist with work ups at yards on site.

    There are looking for Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to work between the small animal hospital and equine departments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work at the main hospital as well as at one of the 7 branch practices where the workload is varied with both consulting and surgical roles possible. The equine department is expanding and as such they require an extra vet to contribute to the workload. Participation in the OOH rota is essential although they are happy to be flexible in the exact split of workload between small animal and equine. The clinical team is extremely supportive and aim to offer clients an excellent service. They encourage case continuity and aim to provide an excellent atmosphere to develop your own interests.

    Previous experience working in both small animal and equine roles is preferred. Both senior small animal vets and the equine lead vet are willing to support and develop the right candidate if required. You must be an enthusiastic team player who enjoys first opinion practice. They are happy to consider a part time role for the right candidate. Further study including certificates are encouraged and supported. Drivers licence essential.
