As part of the original set up team for Bright Leaf in 2010 I have recently taken more of an administrative role in the business. I now audit and maintain accurate files for both candidates and clients and look after customer service and credit control.

Prior to Bright Leaf Recruitment I had extensive experience gained in Sales, Insurance, Customer Service and have worked for a large project management company. I also owned and ran another successful business which was sold in 2009 to provide the seed funding for Bright Leaf Recruitment.

Outside work I like to go walking with the family, eat out and I enjoy gardening.

Our client based in the beautiful Isle of Wight are looking for a Small Animal Vet with hours to suit you. The client has a proactive and flexible approach to recruiting new team members and are open to discussing the hours that suit you – whether you’re considering a full-time, part-time, term-time or solely on call contract.

The practice is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment which includes a CT scanner, laparoscopic surgery, video endoscopy, new ultrasound in this brand-new purpose-built surgery. The team are supportive and encouragement to persue your interest is encouraged with a generous CPD allowance. The practice prides itself on providing an excellent work/life balance and time off to explore the area.

While you aren’t at work you soon come to realise you are living somewhere quite special. When you are not at work there are regular ferry crossings to the mainland (80 per day) and you have the coastal scenery, sailing, surfing, paddle boarding, golf, horse riding and some beautiful pubs. Some of the best walking and cycling routes the UK has to offer are right on the island. Quality of life and work life balance are second to none.

The on-call rota is shared equally between vets for weekend and weeknight duties, all hours will be considered upon application and the practice is currently working on minimalizing the on call duties. The practice are happy to accommodate specific interests so you can make this role your very own with options to perform more surgery or more consultations, other vets prefer to be out on the road more doing home visits.

Preferably you will have experience as a veterinary surgeon in clinical practice. The client is happy to consider candidates that are happy to work flexibly in a team environment and who are keen to enhance their skillset with additional CPD.

They are looking for a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse to join them. The ideal candidate will be organised and dedicated to providing a high standard of animal care. This is a full time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm. 1 in 4 Saturdays but no out of hours. The ideal candidate will have experience in theatre, radiography, reception, lab work and nurse consults. You must be a team player, compassionate and have great communication skills. Our client is a busy first opinion, small animal practice with 2 sites located in the countryside nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills. Due to continued success they are now looking for a full or part time Small Animal Vet to join them.

The practice has an operating suite which is equipped with all the modern surgical, monitoring and diagnostic equipment including laparoscope, gastroscope, bronchoscope and multi parameter GA monitoring. There is plenty of scope to develop your own client base and develop interests, including funding for a certificate. team strive to a high level of inpatient care and monitoring, ably assisted by the team of 6 RVN's. The team has 6.5 FTE Vets (3 hold certificates), 6 Nurses and a support team of 7.

Ideally you will have a flexible working approach as you will work at both sites, carrying out a mix of consulting and operating. The full-time role is to work a 4 day week including 2 shifts of a 5/5:30pm finish. Weekends are on a 1 in 3 Saturday mornings and no out of hours. Our client has a successful and well-established clinic near Spalding and due to continued success are looking for a full time experienced Small Animal Vet to join their team.

The role is based predominantly at the main hospital however it will also include some branch work. There is a large and varied case load of both medical and surgical cases, and you would have clinical freedom. The practice has a spacious, well equipped hospital and three satellite branches. The current team have vets who have completed or are studying towards further qualifications in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, ECC, and ophthalmology. Cases are discussed daily at clinical rounds and support is always available. The hospital has recently been extended and is well equipped with top class imaging (digital x-ray, CT scanner, ultrasound, video endoscope including laparoscopic kit), a wide range of surgical and orthopaedic equipment including Ex-fix and TTA kits, four sterile theatres, dental x-ray, ECG, tonopen and slit lamp, Class 4 laser, extensive lab, spacious dog and cat kennels and a large isolation area. Each branch has biochem, haematology, UA and microscope, a sterile theatre, with imaging available.

The role would be split between consulting, operating, work ups, hospital/inpatient care and out of hours duties. Sole charge will be required during out of hours and occasionally during branch shifts. There is a high orthopaedic caseload through the practice, and there would be room for another surgeon to develop their skills in this area. Equally an interest in imaging would be encouraged. Postgraduate studies in all areas are encouraged and supported. The position is for 42 hours per week, weekends on a 1:4 rota and OOH’s which normally equates to 7 nights over a 12 week period.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated vet with some experience. You will be skilled at communicating with clients and colleagues and share our passion for excellent client and patient care. You will be able to work within our busy team to provide the top-quality veterinary care that you are proud of. Confidence with sole charge OOH shifts is expected. An interest in orthopaedics would also be an advantage but is not essential.

Our client is a RCVS accredited small animal hospital near Braintree who are looking for an experienced Small Animal Vet to join them.

The hospital has a full lab, separate isolation, cat and dog wards. There is an orthopaedic theatre, lots of surgical kit including laparoscopic equipment and various endoscopes. Both the hospital and standalone operating branches all have digital x-ray with three out of four having ultrasound facilities. There is a fantastic, friendly team of vets, nurses and support staff, that have a wide range of interests, and who provide support to each other whilst working within the busy clinic. The hospital offers excellent surgical and medical facilities as well as an interesting and varied caseload. There is a team of 12 FTE vets, one of which is a certificate holder in surgery, 16 nurses, with a high proportion of RVN's, including surgical nursing diploma holders plus 4 VCA's and a dedicated reception team. The client is active in the community and often sponsor local events.

The hospital is part of a larger group 6 sites in the Essex area. The role involves 40 hours per week based on a 4 day week, within a rota system of 8am - 7pm. This role encompasses varying shifts and clinic duties but branch continuity is prioritised for both staff and clients. The practice has Vets Now on site, therefore no out of hours cover is required. There is an emergency only overlap service at the weekend for clients only, from 2pm-6pm on Saturday once the practice has closed and on Sunday from 8am to 6pm. This is based on a 1:10 rota.

Due to the size of the team the client is open to full or part time applications. typical working day is a good mixture of consutls and surgery. role is open to experienced confident, enthusiastic vets, with previous sole charge experience and the ability to fully work up a full range of medical and surgical cases. You will have a clear focus on client communication and a desire to provide the best care possible for both patients and owners. Teamwork and excellence in clinical care should be high on your agenda.
