As part of the original set up team for Bright Leaf in 2010 I have recently taken more of an administrative role in the business. I now audit and maintain accurate files for both candidates and clients and look after customer service and credit control.

Prior to Bright Leaf Recruitment I had extensive experience gained in Sales, Insurance, Customer Service and have worked for a large project management company. I also owned and ran another successful business which was sold in 2009 to provide the seed funding for Bright Leaf Recruitment.

Our client is who an independent small animal practice just 30 minutes from Edinburgh, is looking for an experienced vet to join their team.

The client is a truly independent group of three practices who are looking for a vet with at least 5 years UK in practice experience. You must be confident, calm, lead by example and be happy to mentor less experienced team members. This does not mean that the team is all new graduates and have a range of experience from 2.5 years upwards, but you will be replacing a very experienced team member who is retiring. This is not a senior role as such but a general GP vet role, for someone who has gained enough experience that they can settle into a team and provide first class service, to the practice clients and their pets. You will be joining a team of 11 Vets, 15 RVN’s, a Practice Manager and additional support staff.

The 3 sites are close to each other all within 15 minutes’ drive, so you must be able to drive provide flexible coverage, but you will be mainly based at one site the majority of the time. Facilities include digital x-ray, ultrasound, in house lab and is a nursing training practice. The practice also has a orthopaedic specialist, who visits once a month to take care of all their procedures. Vets at the practice are currently studying towards their certificate in Medicine and another is completing a GP Cert. With this in mind the client is keen to hear from vets who are wanting to start a certificate.

This is a full-time position working 4 days, 40 hours per week. The practice opens from 9am – 6.30pm. Weekends are on a 2:6 covering Saturdays only 9am – 4pm. There are no OOH’s with this role as this is permanently covered but a RVN but you would be on a 1:14 second on call rota but in the last two years a vet has only be called twice so this is minimal.

Our client has 2 practices outside Edinburgh and is looking to 2.5 staff members to join their supportive and friendly team.

You will be joining a team currently working with two experienced vets but the practice is expanding and is therefore looking for 2.5 vets, taking them to a 4.5 vet practice. Ideally candidates will have previous experience and be able to hit the ground running but applications are also open to confident new graduates. The Clinical Director has been with the practice for 2.5 years and is happy to provide mentoring and support where necessary. The client is also open to part time applications with hours and rota to suit the right candidate.

The practice has been established since 2009 and have been renovated and benefit from continuous investment in new equipment. The have all the usual toys including dental x-rays, Ultrasound, ECG and a cardiology table. The client is happy to invest in equipment should you have a special interest, to demonstrate their commitment to team members and their passions. The practice is part of a larger group and therefore has access to their certificate holders, where you can to go and spend the day (on a regular basis) to pursue your passion.

The full time role would be based on 4 days per week, working 40 hours per week, weekends on a 1:4 rota but with no out of hours.

You will be joining a team of very experienced and supportive staff, where group discussions about cases are encouraged. The clinic provides a 24 hour service to clients and there animals, which includes a rota for nurses to provide on-site cover overnight to care for hospitalized patients and assist the duty vet with emergency calls.

Due to the size of the team, the in house OOH's are light. All applicants have to be comfortable working on a night rota.

Our client in Buckinghamshire would like to welcome an experienced veterinary surgeon to join their team. Ideally with a medical / imaging bias.

This is a well established modern hospital and is very well equipped with 3 theatres, digital X-ray, Ultrasound, and a state of the art labs including biochem and haematology plus 10 walk in kennels, separate cattery and exotic wards.

The team of 8 vets have a range of interests including Cardiology, Endoscopy, Orthopaedics and Exotics and will happily support your development up to certificate level if that is what you are looking for.

This is a full time day role as the team have a dedicated night team working out of hours and taking care of any emergencies.

The successful candidate will be confident and competent and able to support the less experienced members of the team. There is the potential for some leadership within this role and so you must be able to hit the ground running.

Salary will be based on experience and the package will include CPD allowance, potential certificate funding, RCVS and VDS fees paid, discounted vet fees and products and an attractive holiday allowance of 28 days pro rata.

Our client has a group of practices in the M6 area and are looking for a full or part time vet to join their team.

Being based in this central location, it allows for a weekend anywhere in the country if you like to explore, or ideal if you have friends and family scattered throughout the UK, due to the fantastic local network links. The practice is just a short walk into the centre for shopping, but also have a beautiful park right on the doorstep for lunch time strolls.

The practice prides itself on their forward thinking, teamwork and wellbeing. Many of the vets including the senior team have been in the practice since graduation, so it has a real family feel and is very supportive. The clinic has great equipment including ultrasound, laparoscopic kit, K-Laser and much more. You will be joining a team of 9 full time vets, 9 full time VN’s and additional support staff.

The successful candidate must be confident in consultations and basic surgery. There is an element of sole charge and you will need to be able to carry out consultations and as a minimum, routine operations. Advice and help is available for more complicated procedures and operation. The practice runs 15 minute consultation times. The rota is 5 weekdays, 9.00am - 7.00pm with a 2 hour break in the middle of the day, 1 in 6 Saturdays, no OOH's, no bank holidays. Ideally you will have a minimum of 1 year UK experience. An interest in exotics would be preferred but not essential.

Our client has successful out of hours business covering 19 local practices in the Wolverhampton area.

Due to the continuing success the practice is now looking to recruit an additional experienced night vet. This is a sole charge out of hours role working 7 nights on and 7 nights off on a 1 week in 4 rota, alongside a small team of a RVN, an ACA and Receptionist. It can get quite busy, however, there is a duty flat with an opportunity to have some sleep on most shifts, as the experienced ACA will be on duty and awake all night. There is room in the hospital kennels area for up to 20 cases at one time, although the average is usually 5-10. This is a great opportunity to be involved in interesting emergency cases such as GDV's, Cesareans, Pyometras, surgical investigations as well as medical cases. This is a full-time position; however, the client is open to part-time applications.

You will be joining a team of 20 Veterinary Surgeons, 30 Nurses, 2 cert holders and more mid study within the group. The main hospital in Wolverhampton is equipped with CT scanner, in-house blood machines, digital x-ray, ultrasound, capnography and dental x-ray and a network of branch surgeries, providing first opinion services.

The ideal candidate is RCVS registered, with a proven record of out of hours experience. An ECC certificate would be desirable or an interest in achieving one, as the practice will financially support this. Good team leadership skills are essential as you will be working in a small team dealing with potentially stressful situations. You must have excellent communication skills and have the ability to deliver good client care during difficult conversations. You must have good organisational skills and be able to prioritise cases.
