The vets work closely with each other, offering advice to their colleagues and working up cases together to achieve the best possible results for all patients. The team see a varied caseload and the Veterinary Surgeons have clinical freedom and are well supported by proactive and experienced Nurses and Receptionists.
The practice has a wide range of diagnostic and surgical equipment including state of the art dental suite, equipped with top of the range dentistry unit and dental radiography. Fully equipped in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound unit and flexible endoscope. A range of surgical instruments and equipment, including bi-polar electrocautery and suction unit as well as an oscillometric blood pressure and multiparameter monitor. Ophthalmic equipment includes tonopen and slit lamp. Cat only ward, ISFM silver award, strong emphasis on patient care.
The team are keen to recruit an experienced veterinary surgeon to join their fantastic team. You will have the opportunity to experience both consultations and surgeries at the main practice and consulting only at the branch surgery. Professional development is important to them and they can offer a generous CPD budget. You must be confident with consultations and able to do basic surgery unassisted.
Full time Veterinary Surgeons work a 4-day week, although part time applications will also be considered. There are no out of hours requirements.

They share interests in diagnostic imaging, cardiac imaging and internal medicine and in the future plan to venture into orthopaedics. Internal referral features on a weekly basis. The whole team is supportive, regularly sharing guidance and experience on both a clinical and a personal basis. The practice enjoys being able to support the local area, both sponsoring and taking part in events. Facilities include a digital x-ray, ultrasound and full Idexx in-house lab.
A typical day consists of both consultations and operations. The practice is 100% small animal treating mostly dogs and cats, occasional small furry and feathered pets too. Experience in small animal surgery required, especially routine operations: neutering, dental descale and extractions, lump removals etc. You will be expected to take part in the OOH rota which is typically one night on call during the week and 1 in 4 weekends, with a Saturday morning surgery. A dedicated nurse is always on call to support the vet.
The ideal candidate will be confident, have experience and will join a team of experienced and supportive colleagues. Candidate should hold a full clean driving licence and must be MRCVS registered. Competitive salary offered and generous CPD allowance, with further study actively encouraged.
