Full time RVN - near Chichester

Our client is based just North of Chichester is looking for a full time RVN to join their team.

Situated in the beautiful South Downs, a stones throw away from the coast and London, giving the best of both worlds. The practice has lots of toys such as digital x-ray, a multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring machine, blood pressure, microscope, in house biochemistry and haematology blood machines, ultrasound with cardiac and an abdominal probe, laser, ECG, endoscope and tonometer. The kennels have recently refurbished, having a separate dog and cat ward. The team are supportive and encourage development, have several certificate holders who are always sharing their knowledge, and discuss cases with the nursing team. They work closely with the local Cats Protection Adoption Centre.

The day is varied and you could be working in one of the 4 assigned areas in practice, Theatre, Kennels, Prep and Consultation. The theatre nurse is responsible for admitting and discharging the patients, as well as the normal theatre duties such as monitoring the anaesthetics. The Prep nurse is responsible for assisting the theatre nurse by getting theatre ready, preparing the patients, by placing intravenous catheters, taking bloods and running the tests, discussing the premedication protocols with the veterinary surgeons. The theatre and prep nurse work closing with one another, making sure the morning of procedures go smoothly. The kennel nurse is responsible for recovering the patients from theatre and looking after any medical in-patients. The consulting nurse will have nurse consults throughout the day, plus answering questions and supporting the reception team.

There are no out of hour duties or weekend covering other than 8am to 2pm on a 1:5 rota for Saturday morning, thus allowing for an excellent work life balance. The ideal candidate will be kind, considerate, have a high energy, have a positive, can do attitude, who is happy to use your initiative and use time and resources effectively. You will have good interpersonal skills with a passion on all aspects of general nursing. You will instinctively want to go that extra mile to provide the best care to your patients.
