Full Time Small Animal Exotics Vet - near Birmingham

PLEASE CONTACT

Julie Powell
Our client has a modern group of 7 practices in the Birmingham area. Due to their continued success they are now looking for an Exotics Vet to join their team.

The practice is close to the City Centre but also only a short drive to the countryside, so there’s plenty for you to do on your days off. You will be based at the main exotics site with additional support from the main hospital. There is a wealth of experience with many of the vets holding certificates in a variety of areas. Many of the nurses have or are working towards further qualifications as well.

There is a large friendly team consisting of 25 Vets, 23 RVNS and 7 SVNS as well as a large team of supports staff. They currently have medicine, imaging, surgery and exotics certificate holders. The staff here enjoy sharing the wealth of knowledge they have and are often found discussing cases and treatment with colleagues to ensure the best possible treatment is offered to the patients.

There are normally 3 vets on site each day. Consulting sessions are broken down by admin breaks to allow catch up time and also time to call clients with results and discuss cases. All patients in hospital are transferred to the main hospital before the end of the day. The case load is varied, they routinely see zoo animals as well as your small furries and feathered friends. The position is 4 days per week with 1 in 6 full weekends with TOIL. No OOH.

You must hold a certificate or diploma in Zoological medicine as well as experience in treating a wide variety of exotic species. In addition to your excellent clinical and communication skills, you will need to be a people oriented person, who is willing to support and guide your colleagues.

Our client in Shropshire have a vacancy for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join their team. The partner in the practice has a strong history of training and development so this role would suit a GP vet with 12 months or so experience, looking to expand their knowledge in a supportive environment. It would also suit a dermatologist or exotics vet, perhaps a certificate holder to handle and grow that part of the practice. These areas in particular would compliment the existing team skills. In addition, for experienced veterinary surgeons, partnership could be an option if that was mutually of interest. As well as 3 vets the team consists of 4 RVN's and 2 SVN's. They are a purpose built, well equipped small animal practice. They have digital X-Ray, ultrasound, full in house lab, separate cat and dog wards and 3 consult rooms. and offer a 4 day week with 1/6 weekends.
