Veterinary Surgeon required for Single Site practice in Herefordshire

Our client in the heart of Herefordshire have an exciting opportunity for a full time Veterinary Surgeon to work at their single site small animal practice.

This is a busy first opinion practice with excellent standards of clinical care. You will work alongside the friendly team of vets, nurses and receptionists, both consulting and spending at least one day a week in theatre. It is a full time role working 4 days a week and 1:5 participation in the OOH weekend rota plus one night a week on call. After a weekend on call you will have a long weekend to enjoy.

The team endeavour to set high standards and keep up with new developments to give the best possible service to their clients. They have up to date equipment including digital x-ray, ultrasound, in house lab machines and multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring equipment.

This is a friendly team that regularly have case discussions and share ideas. They are supportive of CPD and further qualifications, as such they have one vet currently undertaking her cardiology certificate and another doing her surgery certificate. They also have a visiting cardiologist, orthopaedic specialist and ultrasonographer attend the practice.

The team are looking for a highly motivated veterinary surgeon who can thrive in their practice. Confident and professional, with the ability to work seamlessly alongside the practice teams to provide a quality experience for the clients and pets alike. You will need to be RCVS registered, have strong communication skills, have the ability to work well in a team, be comfortable to work sole charge (only at weekends) and have a passion to deliver great clinical care and fantastic client service.

Our client has is looking for an experienced full time small animal vet to join their team in Hertford. The practice was established in 2000 and has a group of 6 practices in the local area. The team aim to provide a high quality, friendly, caring service to clients and their pets. They understand that pets are part of the family and therefore deserve the best treatment possible. The team is made up of experienced and very capable Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses whose aim is provide the highest quality of care. This branch is where their 24-hour emergency on-call care centre is located. This surgery has 24hour on-site nurse monitoring, to maintain all the clients’ pets care and needs. The practice has a high standard of equipment which includes the latest in Digital Radiography technology, High-speed Colour Doppler Ultrasound scanners, DVD endoscopy, High-powered Dental Scalers and Polishers, ECG & Anaesthetic monitoring equipment. The team includes a team of 8 experienced veterinary surgeons, 8 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Student Veterinary Nurses and 11 Receptionists. This is a full-time role working 40 hours a week over 4 days 9am to 7pm with 1 in 2 Saturday consult weekends, 1 Night a week on call and 1 in 7 long on call weekends - Friday evening to Monday morning. When on call you will only be called in as and when required. Mornings and afternoons are spent dealing with consultations and then inpatients and liaising with the owners regarding further work ups required or you will be on theatre duties and will complete the ops booked in for that day. The ideal candidate will be an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon with great client communication skills, a good team ethic and able to make decisions, delegate and prioritise. Ideally the client would like to have someone with an interest in surgery and orthopaedics, but this is not essential.
