Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon for Supportive Team - Scottish Borders

This busy, 9-Vet, mixed practice one hour South of Edinburgh are looking for a Small Animal Vet to join the team on a permanent basis working a 4.5 day week with 1 in 3 Saturday mornings and no OOH.

This branch practice near Galashiels cater for large and small animals, and host the groups out-of-hours provider.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic small animal with previous general practice experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to further their career in a supportive, friendly environment and a visit to the clinic is highly encouraged.

You will see a varied first opinion caseload, mostly cats, dogs, and rabbits and the team operate 15-minute appointments for routine things, 30 minutes for euthanasia’s/ blood sampling etc.
You will have the opportunity to consult and operate as this is equally shared between the team.

The working day will see you usually start at 8.30am (or 8am start on operating day), with a lunch break and the last consulting appointment at 5.30pm, before finishing your day at 6pm. The 1:3 Saturday mornings are sole charge between 8am – 12noon, but you will have a reception team and experienced nurse to support you.
The OOH provider is based in-house so no need to transfer patients from day practice to another site. This gives great case continuity, and the team have an excellent working relationship with their OOH team. There are occasionally opportunities to cover shifts for the OOH team if you would like to.

Salary is dependant on experience and between 32,000 - 50,000 for full time hours, plus 33 days holiday per year (pro rata for part time), an opportunity to buy and sell holidays. CPD is encouraged and funded - 5 days annually with 1750 budget, or more if a certificate holder (pro rata for part time).
