My client are based in Wakefield, and have a lovely small well equipped practice just outside the city. They are in the sad position that one of their vets is leaving the country and are looking to recruit a new small animal vet to join them

They have great facilities and are growing, they can offer clinical freedom to work up cases and manage your own caseload. There are NO OOH’s and weekends are worked on a shared basis of 1:3. The working week is over 4 days, so you always have a day off during the week. This gives an excellent work life balance

A rare opportunity has arisen to join this friendly and supportive large animal team in West Yorkshire. The team are proud to be an RCVS Accredited Practice working from modern, purpose-built premises in the beautiful Bronte Country and on edge of the fabulous Yorkshire Dales. This role will be predominately ambulatory, seeing a caseload of 95% Equine and 5% Farm, with facilities to work up cases in house. As a practice this team can offer a wide range of services from routine healthcare, x-rays, endoscopy, ultrasound and emergency medicine through to advanced surgical procedures and inpatient care with all modern diagnostics available. Interest in equine stud medicine and lameness investigations would be preferable but this is not essential. Currently the Large Animal team consists of 8 vets, who are supported by a welcoming and hardworking team of nurses and receptionists, and due to the extensive and varied experience among the team of assistants they can accommodate a new or recent graduate looking to start their career in a progressive environment. The team can offer a place on their Graduate Development Programme where you will be able to embrace a blended learning approach of training days, in-house mentoring, CPD, and clinical practice, creating a varied platform for you to grow and develop as a Veterinary Surgeon. You will be offered both supportive 1-to-1 and group mentoring sessions, for engagement and interaction, as you develop an invaluable skillset. From surgical/medical experience, to enjoying teamwork, providing refined customer service, and gaining business knowledge this really is a great place to learn. In addition to this learning and development programme the team value their work/life balance and CPD is actively encouraged and funded including Certificates, giving you the opportunities to develop your own caseloads and skills to a high standard. Starting salary of £32k per annum with regular pay reviews with a 5-day average working week with 1:7 weekends and a scheduled day off every fortnight, and a half-day Monday following a weekend on-call. Plus 32 days holiday per annum, including Bank Holidays, vehicle provided, RCVS Membership paid, two other membership subscriptions and VDS cover. Whist the veterinary sector may seem complex to those without experience, rest assured, we're a friendly team and are very happy to pass on our knowledge. Our consultants all manage one large, key corporate client so its is easy to build relationships with your contacts. Consultants also take additional responsibility for growing our independent practice client base. Experience in recruitment is not essential, none of the existing team (including the owners) came from a recruitment background. What is essential is experience in a sales/customer service background and the ability to maintain relationships. Consultants will be responsible for screening CV's, maintaining our CRM, processing applications, following up with applications ore and post interviews. Currently we focus on the permanent market and that is where new consultants will be focusing their efforts and time. In time, we may decide to open up to the temp market We are based in an old cotton mill in HX4 Greetland/Barkisland. We have ample space in the private car parks or on the roadside close to the building if the mill is particularly busy. With regards to public transport the 343/344 from Huddersfield and Halifax pass the office and we a 10 minutes walk from West Vale with multiple buses. As we cover the UK, there is generally no need for client or candidate visits however, we do visit the 7 vet schools of the UK annually to cover their careers fairs. These events, depending on location can require an overnight stay. Full travel expenses are provided. Our office hours are currently 8.30 - 5.00 Monday to Friday with an hour for lunch. Consultants are provided with a mobile phone for the occasional evening call.
My client has a small vet clinic based in the West Yorkshire area, commutable from Leeds, Dewsbury and Huddersfield. Our client is a first opinion small animal practice with its own hospital facilities and dedicated night service. They are now looking for a Full Time Small Animal Vet to join them. Based in West Yorkshire, close to Leeds for those who like the city life and handy for the Yorkshire Dales if you prefer the outdoors. Leeds Bradford International Airport is also on the doorstep. The clinic has 22 vets and 7 Veterinary Nurses and have certificate holders in ECC, surgery and ophthalmology. The hospital is a gold friendly cat practice and another branch has been awarded silver. They are a nurse training practice and part of the practice standards scheme with outstanding RCVS awards. All three sites are well-equipped with operating and lab facilities, including individual species wards (with additional exotics facilities at the Hospital). The new site where you will be based opened in December 2020 and boasts custom-built facilities including a new dental suite with CR xray. The clinical approach and practice ethos is to provide excellent staff, patient and client care through a culture of feedback and improvement with regular clinical and procedural audits involving the whole team. The team is a good mix of full and part time vets with varied interests; the clinical director has particular expertise in cardiology and critical care and two vets are completing medical and surgical certificates at present. They are now looking for a Full Time Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join them. The practice is an ISFM Gold cat friendly certificate holder and silver rabbit care certificate holder with separate cat, dog, and exotic wards. Deemed as outstanding in several RCVS awards, they offer 24-hour in-patient care to the highest standard. The clinic currently has 8 vets, 11 RVNs, 4 students, 2 VCA s, 14 support staff, with a varied caseload and large CPD budget. This role may be suited to an RVN who wishes to add to their skill set, wishes to work towards a certificate or needs a break from routine procedures. They hold regular team building events including annual treasure hunts and weekends away alongside Christmas parties and congress opportunities. The role includes care of inpatients and maintaining nursing standards, reporting to the duty vet of any changes or updates, administering medications/care of feeding tubes/ IV maintenance etc. The shift pattern comprises of 7 nights on, 7 nights off and 5 weekday shifts. This is to fully immerse the right candidate into practice life. Salary for this role is up to 28,000 depending on experience.
