Small Animal Vet Vacancy, Dorset, 12 months experience upwards.

Our client in Dorchester, Dorset have a vacancy for a vet with around 12 month experience, so happy with a few surgeries and comfortable with medical cases to join their small group of practices.
As this role will involve working across 4 sites including a large hospital it will give vets a fantastic opportunity for development due to the number of vets and vast array of equipment they will be exposed to.
The rota is based on a 4 day week with 1 in 6 full weekends (days) and there is a roughly, 2 week period as 2nd on call to support the 24 hour hospital. Often there is no need to be called in, this is just for exceptionally busy periods.

Certificates in any small animal discipline will be supported and funded and remuneration will be around 40,000 for a vet with 12 months experience.

Maternity Cover Role. Whilst this role is maternity cover, there is potential skope for an extended contract of for the role to become permanent due to constant practice growth. Candidates should be happy with routine surgical and medical cases so will probably have 12 months or more experience in a small animal practice. Ideally this role will be part time, 2-3 days per week, however, our client would be open to discuss other potential patterns. There will we a requirement for a share of Saturdays. The practice is a well equipped spacious first opinion practice with one other vet and a small team of nurses.

The successful candidate will work along the partner in the practice who has nearly 20 years experience in the practice. Our client in Bournemouth are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive team. This first opinion small animal practice in the north of Bournemouth also have a branch in Poole 2 miles down the road. This is a well-established practice with a large reception room, and a cat only waiting area in one section. The team have 3 consulting rooms open off the reception - one of these is cat only too. The position is full time over a 4 week rolling rota; 3 weeks are 4 day weeks, 1 week is a 5 day week plus 1 weekend working in 4 (Sat 8.30-4.30, Sun 10am-12). No out of hours. The rota is a mix of early finishes at around 4pm and late finishes at 7.30 (last appointment 6.45pm). Behind the scenes there are separate wards for dogs, cats and isolation cases. An operating theatre, dental theatre and imaging room open on to a central prep room. Upstairs they have a well-equipped lab, staff room and kitchen, office, shower and bedroom. There is plenty of kit to play with computed radiography, DR dental radiography, ultrasound, therapeutic laser and flexible endoscopes. The team carry out rigid endoscopy and keyhole surgery in the Poole clinic. Currently the team have 4 full time and 2 part time vets ranging in experience from 2 years to 36 years in practice. They have 2 vets who enjoy the keyhole surgery cases, one of whom has certificates in SA surgery and Endoscopy. One of the other vets is keen on ultrasonography and another one is more interested in medicine. The youngest vet is just finishing her 2nd year at the graduate academy and is all round excellent. The Head Nurses have been in the practice for the last 20 years and manage a mixed team of qualified and trainee nurses who are not only very dedicated but also get along and are friends as well as colleagues. To join this experienced team you must be keen to develop and hone your skills. A good foundation of knowledge and an enthusiasm for clinical practice is important. Our client on the Dorset Coast have have two vacancies for developing vets with around 12 months experience to join them. Candidates will have ideally gained 12 months experience by the time they start their new role so candidates with 9 month experience elsewhere, with a 3 month notice period are welcome to apply. These roles are mobile in nature and involve working regular in a small number of practices. Sizes of the practices vary from single vet sites to large, multi vet 24 hour hospitals. As this is a developing vet role, support is readily available for clinical support. Vets get the opportunity work with a huge number of colleagues to gain a wider exposure as possible. It is envisaged that mobile vets work in this capacity for around 6-12 months before settling into a fixed location. That is unless mobile roles particularly suit the candidates. Successful candidates will work a 4 day week with a 1/6 weekend rota and will be rewarded with an industry leading package of Over 40k salary, generous CPD, VDS, RCVS and BVA as well as 5 weeks holiday. Our client operate a large 24 Hour hospital in Dorset. They are looking for an additional, experienced vet to join their 6 vet team. This is a very busy practices so all candidates will be comfortable with the majority of small animal surgical and medical procedures. They will have either started a certificate or will be planning to start one in the near future. A keen interest in surgery with orthopaedics experience would be a real benefit. The rota is based on a 4 day week with 1/3 weekends.
