Small Animal Vet - Experienced and Recent Graduates welcome

Steph Ward

Our friendly client located on the picturesque Sussex coast are looking for a new permanent small animal vet to join them from the end of March 2020.

This is a lovely independent small animal, first opinion practice with superb nursing staff and 5 experienced vets operating over 4 sites all within 4 miles of each other in West Sussex and who all pride themsleves on providing a high standard of care to their clients.

The position will be based at the main Hospital site with very little branch work and the usual toys available including ultrasound and endoscopes. This role is open to both new graduates and experienced vets alike as the team are happy to provide support as required. The team always have at least 3 vets working on any given weekday, so there would be support for any new member of staff.

This is a full time position over 4 days, although the team would suggest any new graduate who takes the role works 4.5 days weekly for the first year, then 4 days weekly thereafter, to gain experience faster.

When another vet is on holiday the team cover their absence amongst themselves, so you may occasionally have to work a full five day week but would be given an additional day off at the next available opportunity to compensate.

There is a small amount of out of hours and weekend work as follows:

1. Four Saturday mornings per year (08:30-13:00)

2. Three full Saturdays per year (08:30-08:30) - clinic hours are 08:30-18:00 on Saturday then on call till the next morning

3. Three full Sundays per year (08:30-08:30) - clinic hours are 10:00-16:00 on Sunday then on call till the next morning

4. Week day nights on call are one every 2 weeks

Salary is based on experience, CPD is funded & specialisation to certificate level is encouraged.

This client has an excellent and caring team of largely qualified nurses, with some trainees. The successful candidate would always have an experienced member of nursing staff available when on call or at weekends. They would also provide backup as required for new graduates.
