Night Vet 7 on 14 off

Our client is looking for an experienced night vet to join this dedicated, small animal, emergency out of hours service.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic night vet with a keen interest in emergency and critical care to work in this well-equipped RCVS accredited practice.

The rota for this role will involve working 7 nights on and 14 nights off with the support of one of the experienced RVNs. Shifts would be:
  • 2pm-11pm Monday to Sunday then on-call (only working if something came in), then 7am-8am Monday to Saturday for morning examinations and case handover, 8am-9am Sundays.
  • In addition to this, working one full weekend 8-6 Saturday, 9-6pm Sunday, and a single Saturday 8am-6pm in every 21 weeks. These weekend day shifts would be at branch nearby and worked at the start of the week of 'nights'.
  • The 2-11pm shift would mean vets can do some afternoon ops when needed, as well as routine consults in the evening.
Currently the night vet role is working 94 hours each week and this would reduce to 70 hours (if there are no on-calls).

This single hospital site covers OOH's for 10 local practices and is growing all the time. Currently the team is made up of 7 vets, 3 with Certificates in medicine and cardiology, 4 RVN's, 2 night RVN's and 1 SVN. With cutting edge equipment such as ECG, Ultrasound, endoscopes and a full lab, this and the highly skilled team enables them to treat a wide range of routine and more complex cases, including dermatology, ophthalmology, and oncology to name a few.

Starting salary is 40,000 dependent upon experience plus 1,200 CPD allowance and VDS & RCVS memberships. Accommodation is available if required.
