Experienced SA Vet with a desire to Lead a Small Team - South Wales

Our client are looking for a confident and energetic character that will add value to the current team.

This group of 6 branches across the South Wales region offer a broad range of first opinion work in a supportive environment, and are now able to offer an orthopaedic service to their loyal clients. All practices are fully equipped with all the latest gadgets needed to offer an excellent first opinion service, including new ultrasound machines and Idexx labs, digital radiography, capnography, ECG, tonometer and much more!

The group value and support their teams and have two Clinical Directors who are on hand to help all staff through a challenging case or a busy day, offering as much or as little support as needed. There are no OOH duties with this role and a big focus on work/life balance and mental wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in SA first opinion work, confident in routine surgery and comfortable in leading a team. You will be working closely with the Head Nurse and so must be a good communicator and a team player.
This is a full time role but the team could consider a shorter working week providing you were willing to cover the 1:4 Saturdays.

Salary is dependent upon experience.

Our client in South Wales have a fantastic opportunity for a new graduate small animal vet to join their friendly and experienced team. In this role, you will be provided with a real work-life balance and career progression, so you can achieve your full potential. The team is made up of 13 vets, including 3 GDP mentors and certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, and Radiology, as well as a visiting Cardiologist – meaning there is excellent case support when required and great learning opportunities. The practice is spread across 4 well-equipped, RCVS accredited sites, and there is a varied and interesting caseload. They have all the usual toys you would expect, and all branches have ultrasound, digital x-ray, and blood analysers. There is 24-hour care available Monday to Friday at the groups main site in Abergavenny, ensuring Vets are able to provide fantastic patient care and really learn from their cases. Very little is referred, although full clinical freedom is given where this is required. Full time vets work a four-day week with 1 in 5 Saturdays, and a weeknight inpatient only on-call rota. There is a dedicated night shift nurse on-site overnight, so Vets are only called when necessary and full support from experienced Vets will be available. Emergency calls out-of-hours are covered by an external out-of-hours provider. Inpatients are transferred Saturday afternoon, so there is no Saturday evening, Sunday, or Bank Holiday work. The team believe this rota gives staff a great opportunity to be able to follow cases through to learn and develop, while still allowing plenty of free time away from work. The rota is designed with set breaks throughout the day for phone calls/case research. You will experience a great mix of consulting and operating, both at the hospital and at Branches. Sole charge will not be required until you have the necessary skills and confidence. The team are experienced in helping New Graduates start their professional career. There is a Practice culture of case discussions among colleagues, with questions encouraged. The rota is designed to ensure an experienced Vet will always be available, so New Graduates can develop their confidence and own surgical case load. They tailor the induction process to each individual graduate, as no two people are the same. They will ensure that they build your caseload to allow you to become a confident and happy first opinion Vet, focusing not only on clinical skills, but how to communicate with clients, decision making, and case reviews. Alongside the support from our team, you will also be enrolled on the New Graduate program to further develop your skills and confidence at the start of your career. The interview process will involve being able to discuss the role with one of our Vets who joined us as a New Graduate in 2020, as it is very important to the team that you know as much about this role as possible to ensure it is the right match for you. Our client is a well-established 100% Small Animal practice and form part of a group of 10 Veterinary Surgeries across South Wales. They are looking for a Full Time Vet to join the team. The facilities include ultrasound scanner, a well-equipped in-house laboratory, multi parameter, tonopen, digital x-ray and dental x-ray. They also have access to K-Lazer and endoscopes at the main surgery in Newport. There is a dedicated Senior Clinical Team who meet monthly to discuss clinical cases. The clinic is based in a beautiful Welsh town, with great local amenities with the town centre just 5mins walk away and they are just a 30 mins drive away from both Newport and Cardiff city centres. The team is made up of 4 veterinary surgeons who have the support of an experienced team of support staff consisting of 4 RVN's, 3 SVN's and 3 receptionists. They already have a number of certificate holders within the group which enables them to offer a good support network. They strongly encourage and support CPD for all staff members. Due to the varied caseload of medical and surgical cases at the branch they feel it would be an opportunity to potentially complete a medical or surgical certificate. You must be an enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon. The role consists of a 4 day week working shifts between 8.30am-6.30pm Monday-Friday. They also have the added benefit of no OOH or Bank Holidays as these are covered by VetsNow. The ideal candidate will be wanting to progress in their careers whilst working with a wide range of medical and surgical cases in a busy first opinion practice. The ideal candidate must be happy with all aspects of both routine and emergency work. RCVS registered with a good understanding of working in a busy Small Animal practice is essential. This client close to Cardiff are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a full or part time basis. Ideally situated to take advantage of the great outdoors that South Wales can offer (hiking, biking, horse riding) yet within easy reach of large towns and cities you really do have the best of both worlds. This small animal practice has 2 branches, just 13 miles apart, and fantastic facilities including digital x-ray, dental x-ray, endoscopes, ultrasound scanners, laser and well-equipped surgical theatres. You will be joining a team of 12 vets, 9 nurses (5 fully qualified) and 8 support staff. One of the teams Clinical Directors is a medicine certificate holder and another has an interest in orthopaedics. The team encourage the discussion of cases between colleagues, and all 3 Clinical Directors are always available to offer support. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to gain experience and/or to further their career through a wide range of clinical and surgical cases and opportunities.
