Our client who based in Southampton is looking for an enthusiastic small animal vet looking to take the next step in their career by joining them as a Clinical Director.
The practice, based in central Southampton, is well-established and highly regarded with a strong and loyal client base. Its close proximity to the New Forest National Park and the watersport amenities of the Solent, allow for added lifestyle perks for both staff and clients alike.
This is widely recognised as a special group of family friendly caring professionals, the team strive for continuity of care for their patients and aim for the highest standards with the personal touch. CPD is actively encouraged and new ideas readily embraced. The team consists of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, with a new graduate due to start in September. With an additional 7 RVN’s, 2 receptionists and a Practice Manager. Once of the vets has a Certificate in Surgery and a RVN with an interest in behaviour. The practice is RCVS General Practice Accredited and a training practice for VNs with comprehensive range of diagnostic equipment (an extensive IDEXX in-house laboratory, ultrasound, X-ray machine with digital plates, ECG etc) and a range of internal fixation orthopaedic equipment.
The ideal candidate will be caring, enthusiastic and keen to drive the surgery forward in all aspects of first option work. Your day-to-day duties will be to lead the clinical out at the surgery, including consulting and some operating. You will be required to deal with any clinical complaints and have an interest in the financial aspect of running a surgery, but training and support with be available if required. Ideally you will have previous leadership experience, have high clinical ethics to lead by example and an excellent communicator.
The ideally be full time but the client is open to part time applications for the right candidate. No OOH work.

Our client has 3 recently refurbished branches, with a main branch near Andover and 2 other branches nearby. They are now looking for a Full Time Small Animal Vet to join them.
The main practice has 5 consult rooms, a separate dog and cat waiting area, dedicated ultrasound room, prep room, x-ray room, 2 theatres, dog kennels, cat ward and isolation ward. The practice has all the usual toys including new ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, endoscopy and an in-house lab. All 3 branches sit within a stone’s throw from the countryside, but also have fantastic links to London and the coast within 1hr 30mins. As well as easy access to the West Country and Wales (both within 2hrs drive). The team has a real family feel to it, all the staff support each other which has been so important over the past 18 months with growing expectations from clients. There are 11 veterinary surgeons who make up 8 FTE roles. The vet team has a vast amount of experience across all fields and are very supportive of one another. There are multiple certificate holders within the vet team in dermatology, small animal medicine, acupuncture and Western Herbal Medicine. The nursing team comprises of 10 RVNs, many of whom have trained at the practice. They are very fortunate to have a cardiologist hold clinics once a month and also work alongside a wonderful physiotherapist.
The role can be either consulting only or a mix of consulting and operating. The vet will oversee their own cases as well as sharing caseloads with other team members. This role will be ideal for a vet who is comfortable with sole charge at one of the branch surgeries and is happy to help and support the younger vets.
The client is open to full or part time applications. Full time hours are 38.5 hours per week, working across 4/4.5 days. You will be required to work Saturday mornings 8-12 on a 1:4 rota, plus one 10 pm check on a Friday, on a 1:8 rota, other than this there is no out of hours work.
The ideal candidate will bring with them their own personality and area of interest to help expand the practices’ range of services. They are keen to support any future development in the form of CPDs and certificates. The client is open to applications from individuals who would like to operate and consult but are equally happy to receive applications for individuals who are keen to only consult. A team player is a must, a good sense of humour and good baking skills would be great too!
