Large Team seeks Experienced SA Vet for Hospital Site in Lancashire

Steph Ward
Exciting and rare opportunities for experienced Veterinary Surgeons to join a 24 hour hospital team at our clients RCVS approved hospital in Lancashire.

This is a busy practice offering GP and referral work. The site is well equipped with CT, radiography including dental, ultrasound and endoscopy.

This is a large team of 26 Vets with a range of experience, supported by a multiple of RVNS, SVNs and ANAs who support the Vets in the working day and OOHs.
They are proud to be a VN training practice and have been nominated as practice of the year for their local training provider.

Of the groups 17 practices, 6 have operating facilities, the others are consulting only. They also have a rehabilitation centre offering hydrotherapy, physio and k laser. They have four current certificate holders (in dermatology, ophthalmology, internal medicine and surgery) and soon to be qualified in dentistry, ECC and cardiology.

Currently the team have variuos positions for:

1-First on call rota which includes branch and hospital work with nights on call at the hospital on a 1 in 12 rota including weekends. There is always an RVN and ACA on site and a designated 2nd on call experienced vet. Would be suitable for a new graduate or more experienced vet. Branch work is generally 5 days a week 9.30am-6pm but we would consider a candidate who wished to do part time hours and time off in lieu will be given for any weekends or nights worked.

2-A role working every other Saturday 9am-1pm with a half day off during the week. Weekday would would generally be at the branches. Would be suitable for a new graduate or experienced vet.

3-A role working 1 in 4 weekends working Saturday/Sunday days at the main hospital with a day off the week before and week after a weekend is worked. Would suit someone confident with inpatient care and surgery.

In all roles you would be encouraged to improve your clinical skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Ideally you should be happy with most basic surgical cases and be happy independently managing most first opinion medical cases. Although the team are happy to provide support where needed.
The normal day will consist of consulting morning and afternoon; surgical procedures, inpatient care and triaging emergency cases from their 17 other branches and other local practices. There will also be an opportunity to assist mentoring and observe the certificate holders in their case management.

Salary is dependent upon experience - for a full time position you would be looking at 31k-55k depending on level of experience and further qualifications.
