Experienced VET for Single Site Practice near Southampton Medical bias

Our client are looking for a full time Veterinary Surgeon, who can come and hit the ground running in this small but busy practice. Preferably you will have experience and be competent with routine neutering surgically and happy to consult independently. A medicine bias is preferable but not essential. The average week is a 5 day week with a mixture of 7pm, 6pm and 5pm finishes with no sole charge. There is sole charge 1 in 5 weekends (8 am to 4 pm Saturday and 10 am to 1 pm Sunday) although there is phone back up and we do all support each other frequently. After working the weekend you receive Thursday and Friday off in Lieu.


This is a small but busy practice located on the beautiful Hampshire coastline, enjoying the tranquility of small town life whilst being located between two major cities, Southampton and Portsmouth. We pride ourselves on our preventative medicine and aiming to provide gold standard care, being able to offer many in-house procedures than would normal require costly referral. We have a friendly, compassionate, supportive team of vets and nurses, who regularly enjoy social events together outside of work (except during COVID pandemics!). In terms of toys we have: ultrasound, cardiac ultrasound, DR radiography, Dental radiography, Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Rhinoscopy, Laparoscopic surgery, surgical laser, 4 Anaesthetic monitors, Orthopaedic equipment, MMP kits and SOP kits.


We are looking for a candidate with experience in the UK in small animal practice. The candidate would preferably have a medicine bias but be comfortable with routine neutering procedures and happy to consult unassisted. We are looking for a candidate who can come in and hit the ground running in our busy practice. Being friendly and a good communicator with a can do attitude is a must.

Our client is a successful Small Animal practice in Southampton who are now looking for a Clinical Director to lead the team. The clinic has two sites close to each other, they are well equipped with ultrasound, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, endoscopy and Idexx laboratory machines (Catalyst and Procyte). Day to day duties involve acting in the role of clinical lead, consulting and operating and handling clinical complaints. Ideally you will have a good understanding of financial aspects of running a veterinary clinic including but not limited to profit and loss, budgets and stock. The role ideally would be five days per week but four days would be considered. Hours are between 08:30 and 19:00. There are no weekend or out of hours requirements with this role. The best thing about clinics is not the equipment, it is the team. There is a three to one support to surgeon ratio, the nursing team consists of predominantly RVNs and one SVN per site. There are 6 FTE veterinary surgeons and 10 FTE nurse across the two sites. There are 4 FTE receptionists. The team of surgeons range from three years qualified to 36 years and all are excellent all round clinicians. An experienced veterinary surgeon is required with management experience and knowledge of veterinary finance being highly desirable. RCVS membership and right to work in the UK is essential.
