Full Time Senior Small Animal vet - near Dudley

Julie Powell

Our client has a group of practices within the Birmingham area and are now looking for an experienced vet to join them.

Although part of a larger group, they maintain a background as a family-owned practice and do truly care about their staff. The clinic is based in a lovely location, close to both Birmingham and Wolverhampton as well as links to the nearby airports.

The branch is well kitted out and would be your own little kingdom. They are keen to promote thorough workups and will offer any support to do this. To help them deliver an excellent service they have the very best facilities including a surgical kit, digital radiography, in-house labs, ultrasound, and dental machine. They also have good local links with neighbouring practices allowing easy access to CT.

As part of a larger group they are able to set aside daily and monthly time to give everyone a breather. Staff outings, rewards, and lunch breaks are adhered to and they have monthly well-being team building periods. This branch has 2 FTE nurses, maintaining a lively and professional workplace. This clinic runs as a standalone entity but has the benefits of the full support offered by the larger group when needed.

The larger team is made up of 20 vets with interests in surgery, medicine, and ophthalmology. They also have further certificate holders in surgery and exotics, and they have vets studying for medical certificates and a regular visiting Board Registered Cardiologist. There is a good ratio of nurses in the group, with certificate holders in ECC and Feline Medicine.

This is a GP role and they are open to trying to accommodate any interests you have. You will take part in general veterinary duties but also be required to provide input to decisions made across the entire group. This is a great chance for a confident vet to take the next step in their career. You will have a 4-day working week with a share of Saturdays with the overall working hours not exceeding 40 hours per week. Saturday rota around 1 in 3. No Sunday work, no OOH. The salary for this role is up to 58,000 depending on experience.

The ideal candidate is an MCRVS registered, a confident and capable vet. They are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, positive, and organised with good communication skills. You will be a supportive team player with the desire to do everything you can for your patient and staff. You should have the confidence to make the job your own but will be as supported as much as required by experienced vets within the wider group whenever needed.
