Full Time Lead Small Animal Vet near Cardiff

This well-established, first opinion practice based in Cardiff are looking for a full time small animal vet to join them

The client has 3 branches all well-equipped with in-house lab, digital x-ray, K laser, u/s scanner, Laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment, and dental x-ray. Their facilities allow them to do as much in-house as possible, allowing our the full clinical freedom. The team is made up of 5 vets, 6 nurses and a dedicated support function including an experienced practice manager. Across the team there is a wealth of experience so there is good support both surgically and medically - all of the team support and are willing to help one another and discuss cases.

Due to continued success they are now looking for a Full Time Lead Vet. Every day in practice is different, you will carry out 15-minute consults, with time to read up cases and call clients, so you don’t leave at the end of a day with a long to-do list! Due to the sole charge, they are looking for some experience in consulting, the role will also include some surgery time, but this can be altered if you prefer the medical aspect. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving excellence in customer service and clinical care whilst promoting pet wellbeing, delivering preventive services, and treating sick and injured pets.

The working day is 9 am-7 pm with a lunch break in the middle. There is a dedicated emergency service, so no nights or weekends, (other than rota’s Saturday mornings 9 am-1 pm). They want staff to have an excellent work/life balance, the full-time vets work a 4-day week and always get the same day off each week so this can be achieved. The salary is up to 65,000 + benefits (subject to experience).

Ideally you will have leadership and management knowledge relevant experience preferred but mentoring and support is available. You will have strong communication, organisational and people management skills, and understanding that as a senior vet you must lead by example. Knowledge of veterinary finance is highly desirable. RCVS membership and the right to work in the UK is essential. Clean driver’s license required.
