Full Time GP Small Animal Vet near Wolverhampton

Julie Powell

Our client has a group of practices in North Wolverhampton area and are looking for a full time Small Animal GP Vet to join them at one of their branches.

The practice ethos is to offer the very best in preventative medicine, as well as when pets are unwell, but they understand that all clients and their pets have individual needs. y provide a supportive environment where they freely discuss cases and want to help colleagues develop their clinical skills, no matter what stage they are in their career. y have a brand-new ultrasound scanner, in-house Idexx blood machine, all pets requiring dentistry have full dental x-rays and they offer laparoscopic surgery. Full X ray facilities are planned for the branch within the next 6 months.

There are exciting plans coming up in the practice with expansion at the clinic which is just 5 minutes from J2, M54. With this in mind the client is now looking for a full time GP vet. Experience is preferred and you should enjoy a mix of consulting, operating and imaging. You will have one day off per week and work a Saturday on a rota of 1 in 3. Progression to senior vet/ site lead roles are available with correct experience/training. Salary range 35k to 50k. The higher salary level will be dependent on a high level of relevant experience/possible cert holder in an area that will enhance services at the branch. As a GP practice they aim to deal with all cases ‘in house’ but where advanced imaging (CT), overnight hospitalisation, specialist surgery or just some clinical advice is needed the nearby hospital is there to help.

is generally a team of 2 vets, 2 RVNs, Animal Care Assistant and receptionists but there will be times where you are the sole vet working. The RVNs run clinics which include- weight, senior, nail clips, AGs, POCs. The air-conditioned consult rooms run on 15 (some 30 minute) consultations in maximum 2h blocks. Breaks for phone calls, reporting bloods and repeat prescriptions are built into the diary.

This is an organised branch and can offer a well-planned, (largely) predictable working day. They open at 9am and the last appointment is 6.15pm, when the phones go to the nearby hospital from 6.30pm. The role will not include out of hours.
